Dark AleX - Image 1

Badda-bing-badda-boom! It was announced yesterday that the new M33-4 custom firmware would be "released in a few days," and some people were expecting it to hit during the weekend. Well, here's a toast to a speedy release: CFW 5.00 M33-4 for the PSP is here!

Dark AleX even has a new banner on his site. DAX Sackboy like whoa!

Now, here's the changelog:
  • Speed selected for umd/iso was not properly locked in some new games that used scePower_EBD177D6 instead of scePowerSetClockFrequency to change speed.
  • UMD/ISO speed settings now apply to PSN games too.
  • Fixed libupdown.prx connecting to dark-alex.org instead of sony when npsignin_plugin checks for a new version and m33 update is enabled.
  • Iso file descriptor was not closed in driver deletion
  • Added a shutdown command to vshmenu.
Thanks to JaX3RiR, earl_grey, and papakep for the heads up!

It's been a great time for Playstation products this holiday season. This has to be the icing on the cake. Great work DAX!

 » Nice.

The "SHUTDOWN PSP" and "REBOOT PSP" features oughta save my power switch XD

   Re: majorbb100 - 2008-12-05
 » agree

me too since my switch wont even full powerdown my psp, it only puts it into sleep mode.

   Re: 3vi1 - 2008-12-05
 » @majorbb100

You *are* holding it down for the several seconds normally required to do the full powerdown, right?

   Re: calo - 2008-12-05
 » sony

do you want to know what a good idea would have been, for if sony were smart they would have put the option to turn on or off the wifi in the psp through the settings, coz the amount of people i hear breaking the wifi button is unreal. it would save a lot of people hassle in getting that repaired.

I'm also grateful for the shutdown feature, my power switch is in bad shape. The little protruding dots and arrow have snapped off and the switch is now completely smooth. It's a little difficult using it.

   Re: DarkXCloud - 2008-12-05

This saves me too!

My switch is a little broken but still works. Just don't want to break it even more.

   Re: majorbb100 - 2008-12-05
 » @3vi1

of course haha

   Re: SupaDawg - 2008-12-06
 » wtf?

How the heck are you guys breaking those switches? I'm still on a launch psp and everythink works like a charm.

   Re: majorbb100 - 2008-12-07
 » @Supadawg

because they got knocked around in backpacks, and dropped and stuff like that.

"The update will come with bug fixes, and will sport new features as well."

5 changes
4 of them are bug fixes.
So the "features" "are" the shutdown command?

Not as spectacular as I tought but, well...

 » problem

after i installed m33-4, my VSHmenu won't work. any thoughts?

   Re: RocSqualie - 2008-12-05
 » Same

Disable all of your plugins and try them one by one. It fixed the problem here.

   Re: JaXeRiR - 2008-12-06
 » ..

A plugin such as the Game Categories Plugin might've caused it since it adds it's own options to the VSH Menu.

» Trying out the network update

"Network Update has found a later version.
To download, insert a Memory Stick with at least 1 MB free space and press the X button" Hahaha this is the first time using the Network Update. It actually works :D

Thanks DA!

 » Server's Down

Mine's always worked. I've updated my CFW three or four times doing a network update.

However, I can't seem to update it now. It seems to be down...

 » Another idea

Hows about an option to put the PSP into sleep mode from the VSHmenu?

   Re: levone - 2008-12-05
 » Fail idea..

options to reset and power off the psp are good ideas cause they save time.
to put the psp in sleep mode, you just pudh the switch up and release real quick.
it would take more time to open the vsh menu and hit sleep then it would to just do it normally.

   Re: Foolmonkey - 2008-12-05
 » no

Not a fail idea. If you want to prolong the life of your switch then it's good. Then you'd only have to use your switch to turn on your psp thus barely ever using the switch.

I must of have a bad battery or i not playing it as much to hold charge.

gotta wait again until it's charge! lol

 » Battery life

I charge my batteries always off. Never plug it in half way. Also use it all up before you charge it and have another ready to go.

» I'm new with these new custom firmware

Well it's been a while ever since I sold my old fat psp around 2 years ago so now I just got a new slim 2001 psp with firmware 4.01... so my question is what do I need to do to run ISOs applications? Cuz I already downloaded a bunch of ISOs. Do I need to rund Pandora battery?

   Re: MMPSP - 2008-12-07
 » Yes

Yes you need pandora battery and magic memory stick.

   Re: beto_cva - 2008-12-07
 » Damit!!

well I guess Im gonna have to ask a friend if he can borrow me his battery. Anyways is this the only way of making my psp run ISOs?
   by locobrown - 2008-12-07
 » Need the battery

CFW is what allows us to virtually do anything and run ISOs as well.

   by sage3k - 2008-12-08

Does this mean we could possibly see a CFW for the PS3? that would be awesome!

So once Im able to run ISOs can I easily upgrade to another CFW without using the battery??
