Dark Dungeons v1.6

For the past couple of weeks, we've had a bit of a trend going on with most homebrews. Seems like everyone's in an FPS-funk lately. With Charnold's PSP Dungeons 3D out on its sixth version, lots of homebrew developers followed suit. We've been getting mods from other developers who've brought their own twist on Charnold's FPS masterpiece.

Be3f is one of those guys. While his last Dungeons game was from way back last September, Charnold's v6 got him working once again. His own take on the said FPS homebrew is now running as Dark Dungeons v1.6, and we can truly say how far he's improved his project.

Here's what's new in v1.6:
  • all new v6 features (3D weapons with flying bullets, invisible triggers, 2 new maps...)
  • 4 new re-textured levels (2 from Dungeons v6 & 2 built by BlackShark); some old levels were modified; new textures.
  • new enemies! I replaced Ranger & Razor with the monsters Klesk & Uriel from Quake 3 :P
  • new rail gun model... I mean, old rail gun model... Well, I replaced that strange rail gun model, which I found in the Dungeons, with the original Quake 3 rail gun :P
  • some new gfx (new rail trail and original Q3 plasma particle)
  • new boot picture added to the EBOOT

So some of the graphics are the ones from inside Quake 3 - which are not public domain or shareware, they are copyrighted by iD

Shame on you.

They are also from Quake 3 DEMO =) So, there are no legal problems ;)

just because they are from the demo does not make them uncopyrighted.

the risk of doing this and hosting this is that if iD wanted to they could roll in the lawyers and get really nasty

why not use some of the many freeware Q3 models that people have made? why take the legal risk

 » WHYYY!!!...

Why this game don't work to 1.50, when the folders change to:
DUNGEONS ---> __SCE__DUNGEONS
DUNGEONS% ---> %__SCE__DUNGEONS
???
Game work when there are originals folders, but there are always the one "Corrupted Data" file in my list.

   Re: Be3f (Unregistered) - 2006-12-08
 » Why?

Charnod has built special EBOOT, which supporst renaming.

Quote form Charnold:
"With the great mods from Be3f, Drew and Frack, I wanted to install them all parallel onto the psp (into different dungeons-folders), so I've made this eboot (it's for fw 1.0). Now you can change the main folder's name (in the original version it had to be "dungeons")

http://www.caweb.de/v06/EBOOT256_rel_path.zip "

With your 1.50 firmware, you have to patch this EBOOT with kxploit, or use no-kxploit patcher, or rum the game under IRSHELL
GL ;)

Hey Tabu, I agree w/u. It's a awesome & great game, but this Corrupted Data thing gets me hot underneath the collar. I wish there was a way to solve this problem.

@TinyPete
They are from demo and they may be free shared, right? This isn't commercial project!
Thx, for the advice, I'm going to use custom models in the next builds ;)

They are likely free to distribute within the demo install with all the copyright text intact - i.e. u can't just rip em out and add them into your own project as here - even if it's non commercial

iD are usually pretty cool, but why take the risk (both to yourself and to the people that host the files)

far safer to go with models you make yourself or have permission to use from one of the many Q3 model forums

keep up the good work :D
