Xlink_Kai_PSPXlink Kai is "tunneling software" that allows you to connect with other console users around the world, and play online games for free. This means that you can play Ad-Hoc games over the internet with others!

How does it work? Xlink tricks your console into thinking that the other users it is connecting to over the Internet, are actually part of a Local Area Network (Ad-Hoc), and therefore allowing you to connect with and play against people from all over the world.

Xlink Kai has been around for a while now, so why am I writing about this? Well, up until now this could only be done with a few select wireless router models with custom firmware. The drivers used in the Datel's WiFi Max accessory previously weren't compatible with Xlink Kail; but a driver update has changed this. The latest 4.13 drivers from ZyDAS, the maker of the chipset used in the WiFi Max, has a special "PSP Xlink Mode" built in, and you've guessed it, WiFi Max users can now use Xlink Kai.

This not only means that the WiFi Max router is compatible with Xlink Kai, but other routers which use ZyDAS are also compatible with Kai. If you have a router with drivers made by ZyDAS (ZD1211), download the latest drivers now! You can read about how to configure the new drivers here, and how to set up Xlink Kai here.
Thanks for the tip
Haaru!

Isn't that the piece of ***** that only 1/3rd of the people who purchased it could get it to work?

wifimax is just a cheapass wifi router
get a REAL wifi router
oh, and you dont need a router to play with xlink kai, the only thing you need is a PC/Laptop with bultin wifi or a wifi dongle.
the psp connects directly to your pc, and then your pc is on the internet (in my case, my laptop wifi connects to the psp and my home broadband cable lan is on the internet)

PSPUPDATES PEOPLE, LETS PLAY MORE ON XLINK KAI!

if anyone plays at xlink kai, add my xtag: GogetaSSJ4BR
I can play pretty much any game u'd like :P try to play it, its very fun
contact me to play anything (or if you need help with xlink kai) msn messenger: roberto.cr@gmail.com

 » So immature

You are so immature "Drevil".
This wifi-max could open the doors to future hacks for PSP!
The 1/3 people that could not get it working must not know much wifi knowledge, because this is very easy as I do have this working.
Im working on hacks for the PSP, which id rather not mention because last time I did, pspupdates deleted my post here.
But just know everyone here at pspupdates, that my hacks for the PSP will be superb and the greatest things for you all to witness!

Thanks,
Chris Michaels

 » Well...

Yeah, the Wifi Max, now with the right drivers, can let you play on Kai. But unfortunately we, Team XLink, have come to the conclusion that GTA is unplayable on Kai unless you have a friend around your area, not across the world. Remember, this is only for GTA because it's very ping sensitive. Long story short, any ping level higher than 20 ms is unplayable (for GTA). This is strictly based on the game, not the Kai software. Sorry to be a killjoy, but it's the truth. On the other hand, there're a lot of other games that only have ad-hoc which can be utilized with Kai, such as WipEout Pure and Monster Hunter Portable (both widely known Kai favorites). Check out the forums for more info if you wish...

Happy gaming guys

 » Censorship

lol ya, QJ loves that delete button. Unless it's illegal I don't think anything should be deleted (except repeated posts of course). Maybe their should be a button like "jump it up" where users can vote to have a post flushed down the drain of censorship. Just a suggestion.

 » Meh...

That's nice and all, but really, if you're gonna have wi-fi in your house, you might as well get a better router than Datel's. :P Anyways, XLink Kai is a nice idea, but there's not enough people playing on it to make it worthwhile.

#10 - I don't know what you're going on about. When we delete comments, the number disappears completely. Since all numbers 1 through 10 are present, nothing has been deleted. ;)

I think our readers love the "accuse button" a bit too much. (Also known as "Submit Comment")

wifi max? im about to return mine for a refund. It might okay but its screwing up my computer more than it is helping me...I plug it in and it restarts my computer nonstop. ive tried so many different ways to get it working. Alas! Whoever buys this, beware, what lays beyond thy view is inconceivable I had no idea what was going on with it. Socom was fun while it lasted (Batosai531) but ill just get a real router in stead, like this one for the same price as the wifi max : http://www.officedepot.com/ddSKU.do?level=SK&id=713130&x=0&Ntt=wifi&y=0&uniqueSearchFlag=true&An=text

That will definatly work, if the one at the top do not!

you dont need that wifimax crap, just directly connect to your pc or laptop (if they have wifi)

but if you need a router, then get a real router!

I was commenting on #7 but, referring to all past and present comments in general. I wasn't criticizing QJs censorship. I know this site is FULL of people who want nothing more then to flame, flame, and flame some more. I commend your diligent weeding of unsavory comments. I was just suggesting a method that would pit those flamers against the whole of QJs users instead of against the admins. It would also lessen your time finding all those posts marked for deletion. Thanks for all your hard work going in to, in my opinion, the most comprehensive and up-to-date gaming sites on the net!

heres to hoping D-link can impliment x-link support into their routers since most of them are run by Atheros chips which subsequently just purchased no-name ZyDAS.
