I hope you enjoy it as much as i did... xD
if you want to try out this datel battery for free, go to www.c@shcrate.com/259295 and do the free ebay and stamps.com offers. You'll have just enough money for this battery! Oh, and make sure you replace the @ with an A. For some reason, QJ's filter can't handle the awesomeness of that site and filters it :P
has anyone thought they could be using sony's version of the jigkick? i mean the fact all of these sister versions are coming out NOW just after pandora's battery, is coincidental cause if they were using sony's code they would have made this awhile ago. so yeah i guess i answered my own question but anyone who has forgotten about sony's Magic Memory Stick that was snatched from an irresponsible sony rep, has been reminded its a possibilty now.
why are people surprised this is exactly how these skumbags make their money. They have no intelligence of their own so they have to steal others ideas, which they make free for our benefit and con people out of money for it. Id be very surprised if Sony werent extremely p1ssed about this.
This won't end well for Datel.
i agree, the community may spite them for taking advantage of freely available software

[NO AGE REQUIREMENT, NO CREDIT CARD, NO DETAILED INFORMATION, AND YOU DONT HAVE TO GIVE A SINGLE PENNY!]
Would this not be useful for people who do not have access to a pre-flashed PSP to create the battery in the first place? Also, for less then most PSP games you can get one of these. Seems reasonable ... of course not crediting the original authors is very LAME.
but there are many members in the forums who would be happy to lend you one if you pay shipping.
I could potentially use this because I can't find anybody with a 1.5 psp. $25 sounds a lot better than $160.
this has got to piss of C+D. I mean, they put all this damn work into it, its a HUGE moment for the PSP community.. and now you have all these godamn bastards stealing their *****.
If I were a developer, I would see this as making something that you discovered more accessible, keep in mind that not all people who would like to downgrade have access to a Pandora's Battery, or even have the ability to create one! (You need to be able to run homebrew, and if your PSP is bricked or of an unsavory firmware, we can't do that can we?)
It's fine to make something more accessible, but not giving credit to the developers and selling it as your own is not right.
C+D should patent furthur major projects before releasing it to the general public.
They cant patent that ***** cause they dont have the rights to make them.
$25 not a bad deal... also there are so many of these things already.
im not a fan of sony's asshatness but just as a reminder sony was the one who created the service mode and the way to boot into it :P.
Why don't they ship outside USA and Canada :(
ahhhaahhha
"Please note: The TOOL functionality is hard-coded to put the PSP into service mode. The standard version cannot be changed to have this functionality so please choose the version you require when ordering."
LIES, unless they actually patched their normal batteries in some way so they can't be changed.
their eeprom is read-only...
also - they are not making more money off this - the TOOL version costs the same as a normal battery of theirs. And the fact that it's red helps distinguish between multiple batteries.
and some people dont have an homebrew enabled PSP to create the battery. too bad they dont provide the memory stick, but that can technically be done all on a PC (one part isnt but could be - it might in one of the "easy installers" idk)
@Morlok8k: Exactly. If anything, this is a good thing, as it makes the Pandora functionality available to people who otherwise wouldn't have access to it. True, you have to pay, but you get a replacement battery thrown in as well! :P
I just tried this on my MaxPower (Model: LB 1000) and it change sucsesfully to a pandora battery so its not read only ;-)
"they are not making more money off this - the TOOL version costs the same as a normal battery of theirs."n
And how does hijacking the R+D of an organization and piggybacking off the fruits of their labour to create a value-added deal not translate into more money than usual for this company?
Sorry dude, you can rationalize every which way your heart desires, the fact is they are riding Pandora's ass right to the end of the rainbow, without permission no less.
Uncreated
If it is read only EEPROM, wouldn't it just be PROM?
lol...
Fu ck Pandora!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
does it come with a memory stick and files??
A week ago i changed my original battery to a pandora battery and i didn't had a spare battery i've looked in every shop for a replacement but there all gone :| but yesterday i thought i tried the Intertoys and again no luck :( but than i found a this datel maxpower in a PS2 must go action bin (it was the last one!!) for just 10 euro's so i think 24.99 is a little to expencive! yaaay my playstation portable is portable again :P and i got the battery for free cus i downgraded my friends for 20 euro's hahahah lol
That's $24.99, not 24.99 Euro.
10 Euros + 13.65900 U.S. dollars
Previous Datel Max Power batteries have all worked fine for Pandora. It would be curious if they've changed the EEPROM to read only, especially since they don't make any more cash from the TOOL version.
They also are presumably not telling the full story about the TOOL battery - they don't mention that you can't use it as a standard battery, in fact they seem to be claiming that you can.
There is also nothing about the magic memory stick. Without it, the battery itself is useless.
"you can create your own Pandora's Battery for a relatively cheap price"
since when?! a *****ing second battery for a psp is $40! these things are half the price, and you wouldnt even have to mod them.
the reason these are less expensive is that they are using a cheap lithium polymer cell instead of the much higher quality lithium ion cell that normal psp batteries use.
the lithium polymers tend to overheat and also lose capacity very quickly.
"It'd probably take some testing to make sure that Datel's Max Power is functionally identical to Pandora's Battery."
No, it won't. Someone buys one and runs the Pandora's Battery Creator and reports the serial number it shows. If it's 0xFFFFFFFF, it's identical to the Pandora. That's the only thing changed, anyways.
I'm not quite entirely pissed about this because it's not like C+D could keep people from making batteries with this serial number. The serious meat of their project was figuring out how to make their own IPL and run all the necessary hardware from scratch. Datel still doesn't offer this, so their battery is essentially useless.
You need a PSP with homebrew capability to set up your memory stick, too.
That's the testing I was thinking of. :D
You don't need a homebrew memory stick to set up the files, u can make the 1.50 subset thing on the computer...like the pandora box...the easy installer
http://digg.com/gaming_news/Stop_This_Datel_trying_to_profit_from_PSP_hackers_Pandora_s_Battery
digg this to notify the world!
Is this a "own" product or a copy of the Pandora Battery? If it is a copy, then shame on Datel !
i agree with those comments about selling those products with the pandora for making money to the company,in other way i want to say it could be better they get rid about that pandora installer before more people making things and abuse it. if i would be a qj and other sites that have the pandora me as admin i would put those pandora for a limited time for people for download cause this thing is getting really out of hands.though thanks to the team that made the pandora but like u know ur job is for making people more richer?c`mon think about it.laterz! qj admin hope u read this!
this is great for people like me that only has one psp and I'm on mac with a bricked psp. You need two psps to do the pandora and a PC which I have neither.
...not the memory stick, with the downgrader, you have to get those files yourself. This could be an accessible way for people without homebrew-enabled PSPs to downgrade, if they don't have friends with homebrew enabled PSPs.
I like to take it up the ass. My ass hurts from being gay.
They might have been working on their OWN version of 'pandoras battery'
Why doesn't C+D just copyright it. *****tards.
Because the patent would belong to Sony you idiot, They made the PSP and they implemented they service mode on it. But they didn't patent the "technology" in order to keep their service mode clear off the eyes of hackers. Get it now?
lol yea fool
Seems kinda reasonable if you can't make a pandora battery if your PSP is already bricked.
This sux for the team who made this software, i would want to kill whoever leaked the pandora. Man they would have patented it and made some really good money, thanks to whoever leaked it now everyone is basically stealing from them.
your an idiot, they couldnt patent it, or it would belong to sony. You should think before you post. the psp isnt theirs and neither is the battery
Yyou cant copyright or patent a few bytes idiots
i just bought one bc i cant make a pandora batt. so i dont see it as being stupid
