PlayStation Portable owners, you better get ready for some head-swapping action. D3Publisher of America has just announced that Dead Head Fred has finally gone gold and will ship to retailers across the U.S. on August 28.

Dead Head Fred is a uniquely bizarre third-person action game developed exclusively by Vicious Cycle Software, Inc. for the PSP. Probably the coolest thing about it is recently-resurrected private eye Fred Neuman's ability to switch around and use the heads that players can collect throughout the game.

There are nine different heads to collect, and each of them bring a unique gameplay mechanic that will help players, as Fred, to solve their own murder. Players can also complete missions and mini-games to get money and upgrade their powers and attacks. Weird? Yeah, but it sure does look fun.
