The P-kara karaoke software and the MAPLUS Portable Navi navigation software was recently launched in Japan, we came across some of the details regarding the two software titles.

P-kara

P-kara

P-kara doesn't just let you sing along to songs loaded in to your PSP's memory stick, the software takes advantage of the effervescently named So-Net (we're thinking that's Sony Networks) ISP, and uses the PSP's integrated WiFi functionality to allow users to download or (more amusingly) stream tracks using their PSP.

P-kara comes with a headset microphone that should look like so:

Would you really want to sing while you commute?

MAPLUS Portable Navi

Using your PSP as a guide

MAPLUS Portable Navi isn't exactly google earth, but what the title released by Eida does well, is make use of the recently released PSP GPS receiver.

The app comes with the expected features that navigation software should come with, things like voice-guided directions, simultaneous turn-map display, waypoint support, rerouting, etc. If you're cheap you could just mount the thing onto your car and use it as an in-car navigation system.

If you're interested, and blessed with the ability to understand foreign languages, then you'd probably want to visit the MAPLUS community site. The site should have many amusing features and should feature user-created guides. Think of it as a place where people exchange go-here-this-place-is-fun guide maps.

 » It does seem stupid

Maybe you can buy it without a mic? It seems a pretty big waste if you have to buy it with the same mic.
