Devhook 0.51 released - 3.01 PSP Firmware emulation!

Just a few short days after the landmark release of Devhook 0.50, Booster has once again updated Devhook to v0.51. And the amazing new addition in the latest version is nothing less than 3.01 emulation! While people couldn't have been happier, it was, in a way, expected after the original fireworks by none other than the Noobz crew.

While this should result in a lot of tinkering by everyone, for now, you probably will be able to check out PS1 games on your PSP if you're one of the lucky ones to have a PS3. Luckily, we do have a PS3 here at QJ and will be documenting all of our experiences. Watch out for them in the near future!

Anyways, I can bet that you'll all be dying to try this out. Well, what better than to link to our forums with a tutorial. And while it says that it's for Devhook 0.50, I've already confirmed that the same steps will work, even for the latest devhook. Finally, here's the latest release of Devhook and its respective SDK.

» Devhook 051 Step by Step Working Tutorial

1) Unzip DH0510000.rar.
2) Copy "dh" folder from DH0510000>MS_ROOT>dh to root, ms0:>(put here).
3) Copy "fbm" from DH0510000>MS_ROOT>fbm to root, ms0:>(put here).
4) Copy "%__SCE__DH051BETA and __SCE__DH051BETA" from DH0510000>MS_ROOT>PSP>GAME> to root, ms0:>PSP>GAME>(put here).
5) Extract DATA.PSAR from 3.01 Update EBOOT.pbp usinf PBP-Unpacker.
6) Move the DATA.PSAR to root, ms0:>(put here).
7) Download the psar dumper for 3.00/3.01 from this site. Extract "psar_dump2, psar_dump2% to ms0:>PSP>GAME>(put here).
8) Run the dumper and press "CROSS". A folder of F0 will be created to root ms0:>(here).
9) Move ms0:>F0>(everthing) to ms0:>dh>301>F0>(everthing here - overwritting some files - kd folder).
10) On the PSP, run the DEVHOOK0.51 launcher BETA.
11) Select FIRMWARE>firmware 3.01(MS or flash+MS).
12) If devhook files are installed to flash1 then uninstall it first (To uninstall, in the TOP MENU choose FLASH INSTALL then press "uninstall DH files from flash:").
13) Select FLASH INSTALL again then press "install configfile to flash1:".
14) Select START and PSP will reboot to 3.01 XMB with Devhook config menu.
15) Press HOME button to exit the config menu and configure the Initial Setup sequence.
16) Check the System Setting>System Information to confirm Version 3.01.

Try testing some mp3 and use the cool visualization.

Bugs found:
1)CPU speed over 222/111 MHz will corrupt Wifi scanning.
2)Some game like Platypus.iso will show "Load failed. The data is corrupted. [80110306]" but ignoring the error will eventually be playable. Exiting this game sometime will freeze the screen.

thank you for writing such a "summarized" version!, but i have a problem: it says something like "devhook is not installed to flash1", when i try to "install configfile to flash1:"

When u choose FLASH INSTALL>"install configfile to flash1:, nothing wrong. What u see (devhook isn't installed in flash0: and devhook isn't installed in flash1:) mean your PSP onboard memory doesn;t contain any dh folders/files(which is ok).

just press "CIRCLE" button and hold it to start.
After that continue with the tutorial.

Choose FLASH INSTALL den "uninstall DH files from flash1:" Press CIRCLE n hold the button. If u c directry flash1:/dh : not found, den press any button to return. Do That.

Choose FLASH INSTALL again den "install cinfigfile to flash1:". Read the last 2 lines in RED. It says "Press CIRCLE button and hole 1seconds to start". Do that. After that choose START DEVHOOK.

I found the bug that is responsible for dh051 being initiate the the initial setup n erase all your settings in 3.01 everytime u exit devhook.

The bug is a file called init.dat. It's located in ms0:>dh>301>f1>registry>init.dat (delete this file).

After u delete it, your dh051 will never show that initial setup sequence anymore n will remember all your 3.01 settings.

man, i really never thought i'd see the day where people could be that naieve. ffs how could there possible be a downgrader for 3.00?? there simply never will be. i never say never, but in this case there will never be a downgrader. if you updated then your screwed, no two ways about it. you wrought this on yourself, so live with it!

alright there will be one in the near feauter if there is a exploit that makes it emulateably thereis probobly one for a downgrader also there are all those security screwups in 3.0 that they fixed lets not forget that so any downgraders are a posiblity in the near feautre

to do this, do i have to uninstall 0.5? also, do i do the exact same method as in that video or the tutorial but instead of 2.82 i use 3.00 and still put the 2.71 audio.prx into the same folder? please help me out

It's probably more easyer than 2.82. You don't need to audio.prx if you follow harddrives tutorial. And yes, you do need the new devhook(just delete the dh folder of your psp, it saves space and time.)

this is for 1.5 and 2.71se users. u will not see any hacks for 2.8, 2.81, 2.82, 3.0, 3.01 for a long time. please do not ask again. u were told not to update many times. chalk it up as a learning experience. it's your own fault.
