Chunglam's Devhook ModLess than a week after releasing Devhook Launcher/VSHEX Mod 1.65c3, Chunglam has updated it again to add a few more features. In case you didn't know, this mod has undergone countless changes and revisions to reach where it is today.

Not one to rest after releasing a new version, this update adds a few minor things with big ehancements  - you can now stream CSOs over a Wifi connection. Plus, the CSO cache system makes sure that your games don't lag even if the streaming is slow. He'd like to have more feedback from you guys about the CSO cache system, so once you've used it for a while, a few comments would be appreciated.

Anyways, on with the instructions:

  • Make sure you have installed mod version 1.65c3
  • Unrar and copy all files in folder "dh" to "ms0:/dh", overwrite old version files if needed.
  • Copy nethostfs.exe in "pctool" (need cygwin1.dll from full package) to your PC folder contains your ISO/CSO files and run it.
  • Edit "ms0:/dh/hostip.txt" to match IP address of your desktop PC.
  • Please make sure you can use first network infrastruction connection setting to connect PSP to your desktop PC.
  • Please re-copy you CSO cache file by using the new version Vshexmod 1.26a comes with this patch. Previous version of Vshexmod has bug and always copy incomplete CSO cache file.
  • Run the cache CSO file from "ms0:/iso/cache" and make sure you put the original full version CSO file inside the desktop PC ISO folder.
  • When you play the game and game data is missing from cache file the system will try to load game data from original CSO file in "ms0:/iso", then "usbhostfs0:/iso"(if USBFS is enabled) and lastly the "nethost0:/iso" by WIFI connection. The new game data will be appended to CSO cache file if the CSO Cache flag is enalbled. WIFI connection will be closed if idle for more than 20 seconds to conserve battery power.
Chunglam would like you guys to know that currently, the streaming speed over Wifi connection is pretty slow (60-120 Kb/s), and it will be fixed in later versions. Secondly, the core modules for WIFI connection(nethostfs.prx, nethostfs_dev.prx, netuser.prx and nethostfs.exe) were taken from IRSHELL by AhMan and have been enhanced from original source code of daxdumper by DarkAleX. Emulated FW2.71 with HEN_C is needed for these modules. Enjoy the download!

It's funny after all this time to still hear people asking if kernel apps work on 2.8. I'm a 2.8 user myself, and I know that someday there'll be some new exploit that let's you run devhook on or dg a 2.8, and I'm certainly willing to wait, but it'll take at least a few months (if not a few years), so to n00bs like Luke, just wait. It's coming.

 » 2.71 se-b

how do you get this to work with se firmware? do you need to put the 2.71 files in a different folder than 2.71 in dh???????
   by Northernfusion - 2006-11-19
 » cache

the thing is, you have to play the game from ms for a while, to create the cache on ms. It will make a cache file on about 100 mb, depending on how long you play/how much you'd like cached.
This should be enough info to make it work, if you include the read me.

finally streaming cso though wifi!!! gonna get a wifi router for sure now!!!

   by MiGs (Unregistered) - 2006-11-19
 » what does this do?

How hard is it to set this up, and does the wifi streaming only work on 1.5 psp?

I'm guessing what this mod does is stream a CSO file from your computer via wifi to your PSP, you need the CSO cache file on your psp to start the game, and then the rest of the information will get streamed to that cache file over wifi. So basically, the cache files are like really small, and you can fit more of them on your psp while the real CSO files are on your computer, so you save space on your memstick.

 » PSAR Folder

What update file are you suppost to have in the psar folder
2.82 or 1.5?

I didn't know you could run homebrew on 2.8 now?

Say 2.82 is the right update PBP file, this won't prevent me from using homebrew unless 2.82 it's now hackable?

I've been off the seen for a month an a half, alot of stuff changes in the devworld since then I guess.

So 2.82 eboot.pbp is the correct psar file?

Is this a bypass or does it mod my flash and then I can't go back to 1.5?

Thanks for any answers
