Disgaea - Image 1 Disgaea - Image 2

Following the announcement of the Tales of Phantasia and Riviera: The Promised Land ports comes the news of another updated port: Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. Seeing as Disgaea wasn't a graphically intense game, it should go to the PSP without too many modifications. To get past Sony Computer Entertainment America's strict port guidelines, the game will have an added dungeon, added scenarios, and extra character voices. Whether or not it'll actually ever make it over to North America and Europe is unknown. The game is set to be released in Japan on November 30th of this year. Thank you to duckroll of NeoGAF for the translation.

Yes More Disgaea goodness!
Would be nice if they gave Prier and Marjoly at least one sentence to say instead of stand there and laugh.

Gee, the guidelines are for SCE AMERICA, not for the rest of the world. It's clearly coming here.

Basil Zero, mentioned something about Disgaea in the recent "Games that would really suit the PSP" thread?
HERE YOU HAVE IT! And I'll be able to play it too, as you suggested me to do!

 » Hmm...

I couldn't find any indication of Disgaea PSP news on the livedoor blog the ruliweb post linked to. Even then, it would hardly be official confirmation of such a project (read: possible hoax). If this was really a project under development, I think Famitsu would break the news first. That said, if its really going to be released by 2006 end, TGS would be the place to make an announcement. I wouldn't hold my breath though.

I do hope that this is legit news though, as Makai Wars was (note the past tense) one of the main reasons I picked up a PSP. Atleast if this doesn't pan out, theres always Jeanne d'Arc.

 » Brillinat game

I’ve got the original ps2 and I’m 3/5 through the game. I haven’t touched it since last year because the game was too time time consuming & addictive - (there’s too much to do aka item world.)

I reckon it be brilliant on a handheld and could be less time consuming because you can take it anywhere.

So I’ll probably get it if you can link it up to the ps2 save files

Wow... i had this on ps2 and hardly got into it becuase it was sooo deep, i can really see myself getting into it this time on the psp cause of the portability....

» no need to play it again

give me something new instead

but I won't be able to play it though, I'm still with 1.5 firmware

is there a way I can play new games without upgrading my psp?

rukawa: yeah, if you are on 1.50, install Devhook 0.46 and you can play your 2.71 UMDs.

OMFG yes more ports! You'd think that more than a year into the PSP's life it would have more to offer than more ports of old games... :/

One of the most critically acclaimed games on the NDS, Phoenix Wright, is also a port. My point is that ports aren't necessarily a bad thing. Particularly when the target sales market has not had much exposure to the game in question. In Phoenix Wright's case, there never was an English GBA version. In Disgaea's case, the English PS2 print was extremely rare.

So I believe the port is justified. Even then, I think most Disgaea fans who have already completed the game don't mind at all to play it again, or kill time in the item worlds. I know I won't.

Okay, it doesn't matter that it's a port if you haven't played the game. It's rare. :)

Hopefully it comes out in America, though. :D

Whyyyy one and not two? Why a port and not a new game? I've played enough of the game, don't know if I would want to replay the same thing with a few extras..

 » Oh wow

I might just wet myself if this comes out to the US. It's not final fantasy tactics, but the handheld version of that didn't turn out so well anyway. Good tactical gameplay to go!
