Despite some extensive tutorials about DevHook v0.51 installation, it still proved an impossible task for some users. So today, tommydanger has come along and provided a 3.01 DevHook Firmware Installer in EBOOT form just for you. To decrypt the FW files you no longer need to extract the PSAR file from the update, the Installer will take care of this. It also moves the FW files to the right directory, you no longer have to move them by hand, and to finish off, it installs the F1 folders so you don't get the Blue Screen of Death. |

Ok I Have SE-C and it Works perfectly for me:
Just : Turn Off Your console and hold the R button and turn on again while holding - In the Menu , Go to Configuration and Change "Game folder Homebrew" To 1.50 Kernel . (For this Installer To work)
Now DO as The instructions: Copy the PBP File to root change its name - Copy the Devhook 051 to root ( 2 dirs) and the program itself to GAME folder (Not GAME150 - we change it) .
Now Just Run the Installer And it Works GR8 .
I Also Had the Button Swap UP so i Downloaded The File From -
http://forums.qj.net/showpost.php?p+1225979+postcount+768
Copy that file to whatever it says - and ...
WORKS WORKS WORKS !!!
hm. actually 3.01 is probably the easiest firmware to install manually. just dump with psar dumper and copy ms0:/f0 to ms0:/dh/301/f0
i have version 3.01 and if i download the 3.01 devhook firmware installer above will it work??
make the author a little more noticable please. Also, this wont give you the audio prx that fixes the game bugs.
YEEEAAAA ## 3 beat that *****es

It wont work on 2.80..?....well i think it wont but just to be prove it by someone :/
I am almost sure that it won't work either
i dont get it, why cant Devhook 0.51 just be like the 0.46 with easy installer? or like the 1.63 update just replace DH? is 3.01 firmware that different from the past?
also, will this installer write to the flash?
yeah this will write to the flash. and even better, it will brick your psp. cool eh?
To be honest, installation wasn't that bad to start of with, but kudos to tommydanger, I know what it's like to be a noob (it's a lonely world...) ;D
you are gay
yeh 0.46 easy installer was simple... but 0.51 took me about 10 minutes it was nothing.... really are people that lazy i mean the walk through guides here on qj are awesome....
I don't think all of them are lazy. It's just that if people see alot of steps they become worried about making a mistake and bricking their PSP's. Not everyone who owns a PSP has computer knowledge. I actually charge people to put emulators and roms on their PSP's for this very reason, that and they don't want to spend the time to do it.
check psp-hacks, chaos zero should be making his ultimate installer soon
I read somewhere that firmware 2.8+ needs to be psardumped on the individual psp because it is somehow getting info from YOUR psp and adding it to the firmware files, which is why you cant copy a full install to another psp and have it work. Not sure the exacts, but its something like that.
Biggest success trick i had was remove ALL old devhook files from the memory stick, for some reason renaming dh to DHOLD and deleting the folders from game didnt allow me a successful load of .51...but deleting those files and starting over worked great.
Does it write anything to flash?
yes
Do u think this works on 2.71 se-c? has anyone tried it on it?
It works awesome on SE-C, but you will have to run it on iR Shell with the homebrew path to GAME150 (put the auto installer in GAME150)!
if u need to start ir shell to launch devhook papa_smurf, then either u r really retarded or there is something wrong w/ur se-c install.
The installer does the work of psar, (dumping the memstick firmware) then the work of X-flash 16g (dumping the firmware in the onboard flash) and then transfers the files to where they need to be to work with Devhook. That's why he said he could make it for 2.82 firmware
goddamn noobz, these installers are useless crap cus it aint that difficult 2 dump and move a folder >:-( dont support that lazy b4$74rd$
Som ppl ar not as smart as you...not everyone can 5 mins...
LOL i look like an idiot...
five minutes after i spend an hour trying to do it the hard way...
same here
it isnt lazyness. it is for people who like to try this out but fear they will brick their psp. everytime i do something to my psp i fear ill brick it. this way, they know it will be done right
250$ isnt pocket change to alot of us
Comments such as yours are best kept to yourself, people worked hard on this and they don't need ass holes like you bashing there work...
this doesent work for me. and im a 1.5. the screen just goes blank
this trick worked like a charm ! people should follow thw readmes before complaining....there is a lot of things harder to do than this....
can someone please send me this in a zip. file. i used the irShell rar extractor and iit just gave me one folder and not 2. and i cant download winrar. so if u could email it to sk8birdhouse325@aol.com in a zip. file that would be sweet
thanks in advance?
sending... just cuz ive been in your position before
it unrars for FREE!
i hate these pop ups on this site... and why cant the little DS children stay on the kiddy part of qj.net and let the mature people post in peace.
Two problems:
What does the name of the eboot have to be called?
And secondly I am running 2.71 SE-c but when I put these files into game150 it shows a corrupted icon. This doesnt happen when I put it in the game folder. Could this be causing my problem of the program not being able to find the update?
Just name it "eboot"
this works on 2.71 SE-C. i just used it and it worked perfectly for me.
Name the 3.01 update "EBOOT.PBP" and place it in the root of your memory stick
copy over this application to your GAME folder
copy over the 3 devhook files
and then making sure your 2.71 SE-C is in 1.50 kernel mode, start up the app, and then it should work.
Can it play the PS1 games?
theoretically, yep, but qj said they are testing it. and u need a ps3 anyway.
You are a scholar and a Gentleman. OH YEeeeeaaaahhhh!
This is very help to everyone, but not to me. coz after i unstalled the day 3.01 came out, it work perfectly fine, except i didn't get to play my SAVE game data. :(
So i went back to 2.71 ughh
I have done both way and both ways worked almost flawlessly, although this one was much quicker. Highly recommended for people new to psp. Also i like that you dont have to flash on this one. Flashing always makes me nervous...
man just after i finally did it the other way after about 5 tries, still a awsome app keep up the good work.
this is awesome i had 3.01 up and running (emulating it of course) in minutes.
this is the only PSP app ive ever had so much trouble with lmao! couldn't get any games to load, and then out of nowhere, the thing decides to reset the flash1 every reboot so i have to do initial setup every time! xD Hoping this installer works, if it does, tommydanger gets winRAR, 4 internets, and a cookie!
OK I GOT 2.71 TA-180 AND I DEVHOOKED 1.50 AND THIS APP STILL DOESN'T WORK I ALREADY HAD ALL THE FILES EXTRACTED FROM THE 3.01 PSAR I JUST NEED A LIST OF WHERE I NEED TO PLACE EACH FILE!SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!
No more BSoDs!
But...why is Cancel X?
...and why is start O?
plz can I change it somehow?
How?
HOW THE F*** do u chang this??? i need to play FTB@, but i cant with these gay stettins
Well I used US 3.01 and, I have X and O swapped - very annoying.
Would like to know how to change it too..
I think its cause you bought your psp on ebay listed as "1.5 psp" and its a japanese version that uses the buttons in that fashion.
Wrong, it isnt a jap version PSP. The *****GET that made this kit reversed the buttons. ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** *****. Pole smoker!. Now I know why QJ sucks as much as it does. And no it isnt the PATHETICLY slow site loading, nope thats to easy. What does QJ stand for anyway, some jap thing is my guess because it certainly isnt Q.uality J.ournalism.
you idiot QJ stands for quick jump and get a life. stop hatin you dumb @$$
it just took 3 steps and now im running firmware 3.01 via Devhook Damn I Take a bow to all the Homebrew Developers thar could make this thing possible. Thanks
Very nice work, gentlemen.
This worked perfectly on my 1.5
(although the X and O button switch is kinda confusing)
