DosBox from Crazy C - Image 1The DosBox project lives, much like a phoenix rising from its very own ashes. A couple of weeks ago, the homebrew community in a collaborative effort came up with a pre-made EBOOT using the new components provided by the original developer Crazy C.

This time, the developer himself released a new build for the much-loved application. Those who are not quite familiar with this program, take note that DosBox is an emulator that allows PlayStation Portable owners to run Dos games on their unit.

The new build provides the following improvements:

  • Fixed vga splitscreen problem
  • Keyboard mode can be toggled with ltrig+rtrig+down+select
Prior to this, the last version of DosBox was already compatible with a lot of classic titles such as Warcraft: Orcs and Humans, Theme Park, and Prince of Persia 2 among others.

Does the dynarec core work or do you still have to use the slow interpretive core still?

What splitscreen? That screenshot doesn't have anything to do with splitscreen, that's file manager app, Norton Commander

» I love this but it needs more speed

Emulation is very tricky and as we've seen from the CPS2 emulation of a 12Mhz processor can push the PSP to its limits despite it's obviously superior 333Mhz processor. I wonder does this DOS emulator use the full speed or is it only utilizing the 222Mhz? Sound emulation sounds as if it'd be perfect but the resources get used up so sound ends up choppy.

I look forward to a day when I can play One Must Fall 2097 on my PSP as it is seriously one of the best fighting games ever made for the PC (see its official website for a link to download the FULL DOS game for free)

the game plays, it starts, it looks great, it's just choppy (emulation taking its toll on the speed of the thing)

no, your an idiot, dos was originally a computer and norton commander was in most likelyhood an aplication for dos, dos wasnt all games idiot. dos is from before my time and even i know this, do some research before you make assumptions

You kids today...think you know it all. Norton Commander was kind of like Explorer in windows today, allowed you to look at your files in a split screen form. Beat browsing through the DOS prompts.

   by ziner (Unregistered) - 2007-07-07
» it does work with 1.5

I'm using OE 3.04, so I just put executables into 1.50 directory and that's it. You will find keyboard shortcuts here:
