TA-082 Motherboard

Some thought it might be impossible, others simply felt that only God's hands could code a software downgrader for the unfortunate TA-082 people. Well, let's just say that 0okm might have finally broken the shackles imposed by the TA-082 PSPs.

Firstly, a small primer for anyone new to the whole TA-082 thing. A while back, before the Undiluted Platinum modchip came out, most people were quite oblivious to the whole mobo-mania. Then it was revealed that the modchip wouldn't work with the TA-082 motherboards. Even Dark_Alex's "downdater" couldn't downgrade 'em. Few people who were brave enough to still try it were greeted by shiny bricks. Here's how you can check if you're one of the unlucky ones to have a TA-082 mobo PSP.

The reason was quite unknown. A lot of theories existed, but it was difficult to pinpoint the real problem. Well, we can safely consider it as part of the past now, because 0okm states that he has successfully downgraded a 2.50 TA-082 PSP using a software downgrader. Until now, the only other way to accomplish a downgrade was by using hardware hacks, like 0okm's multi firmware module.

Not anymore though, because we might just have a solution for the TA-082 motherboards! Here's what he states in his blog:

"Success SoftDown FW2.50 TA-082 to FW1.00/1.50

Had found a method SoftDown TA-082's FW2.50 PSP to FW1.00/1.50
But the method is quite complex, SoftDown a TA-082's PSP need about 45min

1. Use software Read Data From TA-082's NandFlash & DDR DRam
2. Analyzes the Data than make a "FW1.00/1.50 NandFlash img" that can Boot on TA-082
3. Use software Write that "FW1.00/1.50 NandFlash img" to TA-082

maybe late i will make a software to let "FW2.50 TA-082" user to dump "NandFlash & DDR DRam" data to me
than i can make the "FW1.00/1.50 NandFlash img" to help them SoftDown their TA-082 :P"

Well, so the method might take a while and it might be a bit complex. But trust the great programmers to make an easy installation method for everyone to use. 0okm has said that he might release something as a proof of concept. Keep the fireworks ready!

This is great, and will do a lot of good for the homebrew community now that more people are able to get in.

Is there no hope for 2.6 ta-082 users? in 0okm's blog u guys forgot to post the part about him thinking this will only work with 2.5 psp's

What if you have that motherboard and with the 2.6 firmware? does that basicly mean your fuc*ed?

 » Cool

Well, this doesn't affect me, I've already downgraded from it, but its good, as last time a downgrader was released, the homebrew scene boomed for a while.

Keep up the good work!

for those of u with fw2.6 i think you can downgrade your psp's to 2.5 without a problem, because the TA motherboard only stops any downgrade under 2.5. I THINK.

 » not too soon there...

But then again... it's good that they can downgrade... but the 1.0/1.5 firmware wasn't meant to be on TA-082. This might cause some problem. Won't be like the real 1.5

Like those that downgraded from 2.5/2.6, they have to update to 2.0 then downgraded to 1.5 again using MPH to get the real 1.5 stability.

Crap Ookm, I think I just made wet in my pants.

my 2.6 082 is just begging to be violated! I've been trying out various brews, and getting fairly dissapointed by the flakiness.. I've got probably 15 games/tools on it, but only about 4 that actually work. I'm getting really good at Spider Solitaire.....

   by birdman (Unregistered) - 2006-08-21

on his comments 0okm states:

that method not work on FW2.60 TA-082
maybe late it can for FW2.60 TA-082 :P

to make it easyer to understand:

This method doesnt work on 2.6 ta-082's
but it may later.

@#14 : you are right ...you make a point !

if the mobo of thats TA are diferent sony are not stupid and it may make little problem .....like updating a bios on a ASUS P5aD2 with a bios from a ASUS P800 ....trust me the mobo will be dead

@#17 : people are free to speak their mind ..so please dont crap people comment , as a QJ.NET staff you shouldnt !!

 » CAPACITOR TRANSISTOR

hello,

you are right #20 and #14 ...a diferent modo have different capacitor or transistor ,is not just piece of plastic thei have different voltage thats the BIOS give them .....on a different mobo the transistor have an other voltage ......is the TA got some transistor 3.2 watt and the bios from a 1.5 will tell them to be 3.4 the transistor will die , or if the 1.5 give them 2.8 watt the transistor will not work any more ....all thats are exemple anyway but real !

and downgrading is at you owne risk ...so if you kill your psp , sony will be happy to sell you a new 2.8 psp ;)

Personally, I don't own any of those PSP's, however, this is potentially great news for those who do. Nice work 0okm. I hope you get it all figured out.

So i hope this downgrade doesnt need GTAlcs, and a friend of mine wanted to ask if this works with other motherchips, not only with TA-82?

   by joe45mama - 2006-08-21
 » hope

it works on other versions to, still hopeing for a 2.71 downgrader.

   by alien2275 (Unregistered) - 2006-08-21
 » yay

this is awesome new's for ta-082 users hopefully the 2.71 downgrader when it comes out wont have the same problems the 2.6 and 2.5 ones did because we r figguring all this out now ^-^ so once this is done hopefully because we already have 2.71 decrypted soon we shall have a 2.71 downgrader in due time :D yay
