Appearances can be deceiving. For example, a game with a cutesy look to it may actually require a keen mind to solve the puzzles contained in it. One example of such a game is Atari's Downstream Panic!, and the following videos and screenshots will probably best illustrate our point. Something fishy's going on after the jump. |

Scheduled for a 2008 release, Atari's Downstream Panic!
falls into the action-puzzler genre. The story goes that an enormous cyclone gone wild sucked out all
the little fishies from the ocean. It then becomes your job (with
various powers combined, no less - gooo, Planet!) to safely guide the
fish back to their aquatic homes. Gameplay seems quite
confusing, but thankfully, we now have our first batch of screens to oogle
at and help you figure out the game mechanics. They're looking bright and sunny, with visuals and level designs that remind us of LocoRoco and Worms. |

Those hankering for more puzzle on their PSP plate will have another game to chew on with Atari's upcoming title Downstream Panic, developed by Eko Software. This tactical puzzle-action game is set in rough ocean waters as you, playing a "sea creature preservationist", try to save the world and the sea's inhabitants from a cyclone that threatens to suck up all the sea creatures, and make the sky rain fishes. To help save the aquatic species, players will have to avoid various obstacles like land and predators with the use of many devices made available to them. There will be 80 different levels, and five customizable stages. Further adding to the replay value are the three different game play modes (adventure, free play, and survival) that can be tried out. All in all, it looks quite addicting as another PSP puzzle title, Capcom Puzzle World. Downstream Panic will be release on next year's first quarter, so check back for more updates! |
