Ó

StereoMike, a member of our forum has released a port of Duke Nukem 3D for PSP. This is a great port of a classic 3D Shooter by 3D Realms Entertainment. A fair warning for this game, some settings may display mature rated "virtual females" in sexual scenarios and crude language. If you can see past that is is quite a great game, with well made levels and interesting environments. You must obtain the GRP file from either the retail version (tested) or the shareware version.

Analog: Movement
Pad: Move in menus

Pad-Up & Pad-Down: Select Weapon
Pad-Left & Pad-Right: Select Item

Cross: Use
Circle: Fire
Triangle: Jump
Square: Crouch
Left trigger: Strafe left
Right trigger: Strafe right
Select: Menu escape
Start: Menu select & Use item

BUGS
=====
- The pitch of Duke's voice is a bit too high making him sound a bit "strange"
- No loading(saving works...)
- No music
- Not completely stable, may crash when starting a game and exiting (but i have played a couple of levels in a row, so it should be stable ingame)
- The key-bindings are a bit tricky to change since you can't delete the old ones.
- The "Press any key to goto next level" only reacts to pressing "Start"

OK so what is a GPR file and where do I get it?

   by Feark (Unregistered) - 2006-02-01

Dunno what GPR file is, but I bet it has something to do with the original game, which means you have to have Duke Nuked 3D.

Anyway, have waiting for a port of DN3D since Doom was released. Thanks!
Hmm, that's one "Doomed" Space Marine.

Very nice work. these homebrew games are getting better and better. Duke Nukem 3d really was one of my all time favourites, especially the vocals. thx.

GRP is as to Duke Nukem as WAD is to Doom. It holds all the data, bar the engine.

Anyway, is this 2.00 friendly?

I placed the GRP file and everything in the right place.

However it crashes and sends me back to the PSP main screen .

Its labeled as Doom-psp , do i have to run this via the DOOM app?

I gather not from the readme.

Please help.

No, just copy the .GPR (~25mb)to duke3 folder in GAME

2.0 working ??

I can confirm this is working under 2.0 and I was using a shareware version. However in the loader menu it will show as ''Doom-Psp V0.05'' which can be a little confusing. If anyone knows how to change this, please let me know.

Apart from the kernel-mode warning (which you can supress in the config)the game runs fine under 2.0 firmware. This looks so much better than the GP2X version I tried a while back!!

I cannot wait for updates

Nice! Great game and 2.0 compatible. Good work!

Excellent job! This runs very smoothly already, which makes me smile... almost as much as hearing poor Nukem's voice ;) lol. Hard to think of him as a badass when it sounds like he inhaled helium...

Beautifully done, can't wait until the next update... not much even needs to be done; Allow loading, support the music, allow a bit more customization... Oh, and give Duke his testicles back ;).

Does this work on 2.5 via the GTA eboot loader?

   by Ogopogo (Unregistered) - 2006-02-01

This does work on fw 2.6 using the "Brown Ale" eloader, for some reason it doesn't work if GTA autoloads the eloader when the game starts so just make sure you have a newer GTA save. Sweet work!
