Duke Nukem For the PSP - Image 1

For those of us who are currently enjoying portable Duke Nukem 3D action via Sony PlayStation Portable homebrew developer MrPeanut's efforts, you'll be pleased to know that he's come up with a way to fix the pitch issues in the game (i.e. not making the Duke of bubblegum-chewing and ass-kicking fame sound like he's just reached puberty). This is through a batch utility that pretty much gets rid of the issues themselves. Neat.

And while it's usually mandatory for us to peruse the readme files bundled with any downloadable homebrew, MrPeanut also thought of the off-chance that we might not be able to, and thus included an easy step-by-step guide of the most important steps in the bug-fixing process. Here they are:
  1. duke3d.grp needs to be in the same directory as pitchfixer.bat
  2. You need to run "ncGrouplist duke3d.grp" PRIOR to running pitchfixer.bat
  3. Those are the only two commands you need to run.
  4. Play the game with a duke that doesn't sound like he just reached puberty.

 » Doesn't work for me :(

Gets up to a part where it says:
"
Creative VOC to WAVE file converter. Version 2.02

ncGroup build 1 (C)2007 Nick [MrPeanut] Cavallo

PURPOSE: To regroup the files in FILELIST.DAT

==========================================================

PLEASE WAIT AS THE GROUP HEADER IS BEING GENERATED

................................................................................
................................................................................
................................................................................
................................................................................
..................."

Then freezes and "ncGROUP.exe" has encountered a problem and needs to close." Comes up.

When I click "Don't send" (error report) it resumes pitchfixer, it thinks that the conversion has finished and says:
"...................PERFORMING CLEANUP ACTIONS
phew, it's all done. All you have to do is copy duke3d.grp from this
directory to your psp. All the sounds should be fixed.
My thanks go out to all of you guys who support the project.

Press any key to continue . . ."

But there IS NO duke3d.grp in the root :(

Any help please?

» cant get it to work, different problem

I'm fairly competent when it comes to computers, and dos, however when I follow the directions, on the first command (ncgrouplist duke3d.grp) I get a message that says "the system cannot execute the specified program" not sure whats wrong there, but I have already tried re downloading the file, and still no luck, is this xp compatible? what has it been successful on?

 » help

first you have to type in "cd [the exact location of the root]" then press ENTER

this will change the default directory from C:Documents and Settings... to the root of where you have these files stored,

for me it was "cd C:Documents and SettingsadminMy Documents192_dukepsp_pitchfixer_1"

once you have done this, you simply need to type "ncgrouplist duke3d.grp" and again press enter

Once this is done, all you need to do is type "pitchfixer" and press enter

Don't worry, it took me a while to figure this out too, just let us know if the dos program doesn't freeze up on you like it did for KaVaYo and I.

Good luck!

 » Problem

Same problem when generating the .grp file. An error in msvcr80.dll pops up and I get no duke3d.grp file. I'll try to download a newer or different version and as soon as I get it to work I'll post a link to that file.
