Hudson Soft has announced that Dungeon Explorer: Warriors of Ancient Arts for the PSP will have an exclusive feature called Big Bang Arts. This technique allows players to combine their art sights to unleash even more devastating attacks on the monsters they're fighting.

Hudson Soft has revealed a couple of new gameplay trailers of the PSP version of Dungeon Explorer: Meiyaku no Tobira to complement the downloadable demo on their official site, and to further whet gamers' appetites. The PSP version of Dungeon Explorer is set for commercial release in Japan on November 15. An English version has been announced, but no release date has been announced for it so far.

Unfortunately, Hudson Soft's official website is in Japanese, so for those of you who can't read the language (or for those who are still learning to do so), simply take a look at the navigational links at the top right of the page, and then click on the rightmost button of the lower row. Dungeon Explorer is a classic action-RPG that first came out on the old TurboGrafx-16. It featured several playable character classes, numerous quests, randomly generated maps and multi-player support. The game was also released for the Sega CD and Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console.

Atr1 has informed us that Hudson Soft has released a Japanese demo for the PSP remake of their classic dungeon-crawling title Dungeon Explorer. Here's a quick backgrounder on the game in case you haven't come across it yet.

First released for the TurboGrafx 16 back in 1989, Dungeon Explorer for the PSP expands on the game's great multiplayer elements. Gamers get to choose from a variety of playable classes and explore a dark new fantasy setting. The game's randomly generated maps and character customization features also make for some great replay value.

Anyway, back to the demo. You'll need a PSP running on at least firmware 3.51 to play the Dungeon Explorer demo. To run it, download the 5 MB Eboot below and save it in PSP>GAME>ULJM05164.

Dungeon crawlers, rejoice. Or at least... those adept in kanji (plus katakana and hiragana) can, rather. The Japanese website for Dungeon Explorer has just gone live.

Only a couple of sections in the site are open - the rest are to follow. Now, I know how to read Japanese just as much as a fish knows how to scale Mt. Everest, but bumbling around the Flash site got me intrigued with the game.

For one, I ended up on what seemed like a section for the characters that you can choose from. The screencap I took (over there to the right) shows what I assume to be a warrior/witch class.

If you can't read Japanese (much less scale the Mt. Everest), you might want to go on a click-spree if you want. Who knows what you'll bump into as well? That's what the Read link is for!

 

Gamers who've been around long enough were pleased that a remake of the classic game Dungeon Explorer was announced last year for the Sony PlayStation Portable and the Microsoft Xbox 360. However, there was a slight lull on updates regarding it until a few days ago when we picked up word on it again.

Famitsu is here to follow up on the news item covered by Karl B. with new screenshots of the game's PSP version and it looks fine. No word is flowing as far as the Xbox 360 is concerned but we're happy enough that the PSP is seeing rays of hope to ever see this one come out.

The original Dungeon Explorer was launched almost 20 years ago for the TurboGrafx-16 system. It was one of the first games to feature various job classes and unlockables accessible by password. Have a look at these screens and see if you're up for some retro fun.
