If they're on to you... whack em

We managed to get word that Electronic Arts will be releasing a PSP retro-compilation called EA Replay. Will the old school game compilation sell really well in the market (now that emulators are widespread, and a lot of homebrews out there have better graphics)? We're not really sure. Perhaps EA should've just made remakes of each title, with new millennium makeovers.

Anyway, Road Rash, Road Rash II, and Road Rash III are some of the titles featured in the game, and we think that these old school racers really deserve the spot. A quick check would show that the release date for this game is drawing near, so we thought that we should give old school pixel racing fans a treat. Here are some nifty videos of the racing classic. Enjoy!

Too hard for EA to come with some new content - so again they sell us their junk. Hmm guys lets see if our 1980's games can still make us money - bad game - bad grafix - but hey these idiots will buy it - they will buy anything. We have to stop this!!!!!! DONT BUY RETRO GAMES LIKE THIS ANYMORE. If we buy it this this is all they will give us. The PSP is going down the tubes and we are not stopping it!

this is a cheap shot from sony, so that you'll go out and buy these retro games instead of using emulators. And what about Road rash for the PC that one was the BEST

they ported the crappy Framerate! AWESOME!

they should redone em like Sega classics on the PS2

No way I'm buying that piece of crap!

Wow that horrible framerate is still there... Also, they didn't even bother to redo the graphics or music or...Well, anything, really. I don't care if they include every Genesis game they ever made, I could still get those ROMs to play better on DGEN. Not to mention I could use GameGenie cheats, save ANYTIME I WANT, and so much more, all for free. Buying things like this doesn't make the PSP better, #4, it just re-affirms the developers' assumption that people will put up with things like this. I bet this UMD won't even have extras (Please someone correct me on this haha)...

It's not so much that EA is joining the cash-in crowd and making a retro compilation, so much as that they're doing a really awful job about it. This trailer bored the hell out of me, to put it lightly - it could have been put together by any 12-year-old with a copy of kega fusion, the rom, and FRAPS; because all the trailer consists of is exactly what you'd see if you were to play the game yourself. While I admire the honesty, it really doesn't do much to make me want to buy the game.

Also, I would agree with number 7 - this really shouldn't exist unless it has some sort of extras to go with it. But even then, I won't be buying it, because these aren't the best versions of their respective games. For example: Road Rash was far better on PC than it was on Genesis. Same goes for Wing Commander and Ultima VII. I realize it'd be easier for them to "port" (read: slap a rom image and an open-source emulator on the UMD) from a console version than a PC game, but this is ridiculous.

And in the case of a game like Ultima VII: A game like that could actually work quite easily on the PSP, with some minor control modifications (like direct control over the Avatar instead of cursor-based movement, and possibly a Diablo II-style object locator). However, EA probably just wants to put the dumb, watered-down SNES version on the disc. No companions. No murders. Extremely simplified plot. I bet they even ripped out some of the most amusing bits (like conversing with Chuckles at Castle British, or the troupe of performers that are putting on a play about you).
