Money! - Image 1According to Reuters, EA has made an agreement with the FTC to refrain from buying Take-Two until either the FTC finishes its probe into EA's takeover bid for Take-Two or 45 days pass after EA complies with an information request from the FTC.

Back in April, EA submitted the second information request to the FTC. At the time, the FTC commented that it still needed to review the proposal further.

Take-Two will be reporting its earnings for the quarter ending in April today. The earnings report may finally prompt EA to increase its US$ 2 billion offer, although the company has said in the past that their offer has already taken Grand Theft Auto 4's success into account.

I hate EA s*****y Games. Their games suck and being the microsoft of gaming, they buy off there compitition and release their s****y versions. They're trying to get rid of GTA to make way more more Sims games. They're tyring to move guitar hero out with stupid rock band. 2k sports series is better than the repackaged year after year EA sports series. Please Take 2, please stand your ground and continue to make great games. Don't let EA win.

next after they own GTA, they would try to take over Guitar Hero and Halo 3 and Gears.

I can feel it, next we going to have EA console that breaks easy when you press the power button.

Could be a good thing or bad thing to be honest. I mean one I don't want to see GTA sucking, but T2 must need money to sustain itself in the future. It seems like a doubled edge sword situation.

I may not know 100% what I'm talking about right now but I think that EA buying 2K as a subsidary would be a good thing. I mean look at Pandemic and Bioware, they seem happy right? I mean, Maxis was bought by them and they're still making games (Spore and Simcity Builders). So what could be so bad?

I think that after today when 2k announces the cover player for the basketball game during the begining of the celtics game that they are going to consider the bid deeply. The reason that is, is the development studio who was working on NBA 2k9 will HAVE to come out with the game since it was already advertised so EA would HAVE to compete with 2k9 (even after the merger) but on the contrary, EA would just profit from both games ending in a overall amazing result for them.

Bioshock would've been on PS3 sooner if EA owned them... The same can be said about Mass Effect... I know that I like my 360 exclusives but I'm also not one to say that exclusives should EVER be 3rd party; just 2nd and 1st.

I don't know, I'm actually looking forward to the merger because like merging Gamestop with EBGames, the "best practices" of two companies will merge to become one and EA is already considering a name change to EA2k last I read on the internets.

and yes if EA let T2 do as they please then all would be good, but i think they would try to make GTA more appropriate, but they may also be looking to expand their library to include more mature games.

well they need to stop stealing the blue prints and come up with their own mature games idea.

I fear that EA would not leave well enough alone. It's been said time and again without so much as a word in complaint, 2k Sports kicks EA Sports' ass every time, if EA gets their hands on T2I, they probably wouldn't leave well enough alone, and I doubt that EA Sports would come to clone 2k Sports games. At least with Maxis and such EA didn't already have something in direct competition. T2I has a knack for maxing the envelope, and I don't think that's a direction EA is prepared to take. I fear, should this merger happen, we're going to find water in the scotch.
