Easy Installer for CFW 3.72 HX-1 - Image 1It appears that a new Easy Installer application has emerged from the depths of the homebrew community for Sony's PlayStation Portable, and it's arrival is quite timely, too. After _HellDashX_ released CFW 3.72 HX-1, homebrew developer pspfreak101 opted to create another user-friendly installer option for homebrew users: an Easy Installer for CFW 3.72 HX-1.

The 3.72 Easy Installer, as pspfreak101 has named it, has been developed over .NET Framework 2.0, so it remains a Windows-only option for now. Windows XP and Vista users alike can use this application - the Framework update being the only requirement for operating system compatibility - though there will be no support for any other Windows version.

The author assures that many of the bugs in the application has been whacked (dead, we presume) and should run error free on most platforms. The 3.72 Easy Installer also comes with a M33-4 Update for users with Dark AleX' 3.52 M33 CFW, so it's download size is a little bit heavier than usual - about 24 MB in estimate.

Download: Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0

 » 1.50 Kernal?

Isn't that what runs homebrew? That's the GAME150 folder, right? So this custom firmware doesn't run homebrew? then what's the point of installing this custom firmware? Somebody please clear this up for me.

Re: Ceasar S. (QJ. NET Staff) - 2007-11-07
» Actually, it does run homebrew.

3.xx kernels can still run some homebrew applications, especially those specific to those kernel versions. Unfortunately, it won't run homebrew as well as the Golden Firmware, which is 1.50.

There's a difference in running around hurdles to get something to work, than just getting something to work in the absence of hurdles.

You do have a choice, of course. You don't have to move to 3.72 HX-1. 1.50 kernel support was promised, so you can wait for it before actually jumping to 3.72.

 » Why can't i upgrade?

Does anybody know why the hell i can't upgrade to this firmware?? i went as far as to do a full recovery back to 1.50 then update to 3.52 then apply the patch but STILL i can't upgrade the firmware. It just keeps telling me that i need 3.52 M33-3 or higher and i'm on damn M33-4 thanks to the upgrade.

Can anybody help?

Change the Kernel from 1.50 to 3.52 and it will work

» problem solved --> new problem

You need to set the kernel to 3.52. Yours is probably set to 1.50, which is what I had mine on. I changed mine to 3.52 and it worked, but I have a new problem. When the percent bar pops up, it freezes and my PSP shuts down. Anyone have this problem?

 » help upgrading

I have firmware 3.10 OE-A' (I got it that way) and have no experience with updating homebrew firmware. Can my version use this download to go straight to 3.72 or do I need to do something else first? Thanks in advance.
