Echochrome: clarifications between PSP and PSN versions - Image 1

As hard as playing Echochrome (PSP, PSN) is, keeping track of the different versions of the game could be just as tough. Ok, maybe not, but it's still tough. The PSP version Echochrome was finally released in the US a few days ago, but apparently it doesn't have all of the modes that are available on the Japanese version.

The Japanese version of Echochrome is available on UMD as well as through the PlayStation Store, while the US version is only available through the latter. It's been found that Japan's UMD version has three available modes: Solo, Pair, and Others, while the downloadable US version will only have solo mode.

Solo Play is the basic mode where you have to guide your mannequin towards the "echoes." The Pair Mode has you guiding four moving figures, and you have to make the mannequins with the same colors touch. In Others Mode, you'll have to avoid other mannequins that are moving around, or else you'll be sent back to the the last echo you touched.

It's not so bad though; the Japanese version costs JP¥ 3,980 (US$ 38) while the US version only costs US$ 9.99. Who knows, if there's enough demand for it maybe they'll release an expansion pack or something of the sort.

But I bought it on PS3 anyway... It has more levels, DLC, and better graphics..

That might be why they did what they did not knowing if people here would like it enough. How many of you guys out there really liked it? It's ok but to me not worth the buy.

I like it. It's not something I would play for hours at a time but when I get bored and want a challenge, I'll pick it up.

I play it when I'm boring and all but it's really cool and more the canvas mode, making your level and to share it with another psp it's really cool. That's why I know now that I will like LBP when I always said here that I will never buy it lol. But the levels of the demo was too easy and in the game have 56 levels and more difficult ones.

Ok. Fair enough. Thanks for the feedback.

I suggest people import the Japanese version, which is in English anyway. This game is really cool. I can play it whenever I'm not doing something. I can usually breeze through the puzzles in my first go in 1-2 minutes, but the pair and 'Others' modes are more challenging and very satisfying when you finish them
