Epsilon BIOS v1.1

Just a few days into its first release, the Epsilon BIOS core has been updated to v1.1. For those who don't know, Epsilon was and still is one of the most compelling reasons to buy the Undiluted Platinum modchip.

Apart from fixing problems in their ISO loader, the only new update is in the form of a bugfix. In their own words, "Fixed a bug which made it impossible to remove game saves from XMB." And while we do not support the use of pirated backups, as a news source, we feel obligated to inform Undiluted Platinum owners that compatibility issues with several games has been resolved, although there are still titles which do not work properly.

For obvious copyright reasons, we can't give out the file here. Please do not give out links in the comments. Offenders will be banned. Please contact your modchip dealer.

Cue the poor, jealous children crying "B-b-b-but Devhook" in 3... 2... 1...

Yes I do use Devhook, but I'm not poor nor jealous. I just don't believe in buying something that I don't need. If you need the chip because you've got a 2.71 PSP or you have a PSP brick then fine. It is a great piece of hardware just a little too much trouble to install and it has no real advantages for me over Devhook. Not to point fingers but maybe you are the jealous one because you can't use devhook, why else would you make fun of those who like it? Sour grapes perhaps?

 » An idea!

Just wondering, if Epsilon BIOS is a modifyed 2.71 firmware isnt it logical to try and use it with DevHook. If it were to be loaded up like you would normaly load up 2.71 with DevHook it would make an ideal setup for anyonw with devhook. Being able to play homebrew from the Sony interface and also being able to loadup ISOs(LEAGAL ONES, Sims 2 loadtime su*ks so i use a iso of MY game). Plus, since 2.71 has been decrypited it wouldn't be 2 hard to mod it. albeit, this comming from someone with little coding xp. Anywho, the Modchip rocks for thouse who are bricked or stuck in 2.71 limbo, me since downgrading was a option I did it.

 » Actually

I'm almost 100% sure that it is 100% legal to redistribute the epsilon bios.

Come on people, research before you spout things as "legal" or "illegal".

My aren't we insecure. I didn't even say anything bad about devhook, and FYI, as a modchip user, I can reflash to use it whenever I want.
It was cute how you tried to pass your insecurities onto me though.

modchip user or not, people are still gonna want to use it with devhook, it's just a challenge.
plus we'd get what modchip users get for free so, stop acting a bit smug like.
how much are modchips again? I don't see much use for them atm, it's a bit like insurance for your psp, handy but unnecessary.

It all depends on what purpose you have for your PSP. If it's all about games (hence why I'm convinced all the devhook whiners are children), then Devhook will do in a pinch and spending extra money is not necessary.
If your interests lie in experimenting, hacking, cracking, developing, and trying out the latest and most dangerous mods, then the chip is a must. There's a LOT more to the PSP then just playing video games.
Smug or not, us modchip users will be the ones to test out future downgraders for the rest of you since we won't fear any bricking.
When that becomes clearer in the near future, perhaps the modchip will be shown more respect.

Just because someone uses a portable GAMING machine for games doesn't make them children. Isn't that what the thing was designed for. If I was more interested in flashing every little custom firmware that came out then yes the UP would be great but I am content with my machine the way it is. Why can't you just accept that the Up isn't for everybody. I am not passing my "insecurities" on to you I just don't have a use for the UP as of right now. I'm not taking anything away from it as it is a great thing. Just not something everyone needs now that devhook is out.

is this starting a flame? good point though @14 I'd never considered the use of a modchip in development (quite ignorant of me I've now realised). I was merely thinking of the average user who, to be frank, wants to play isos and other homebrew for which devhook is a perfect free alternative.
to be honest though, anyone who instantly whines, leaves posts like "1st LOLZZZZ!!!!" and can't conduct an argument with proper motive I'd class as a child simply because it destroys threads.
15 has a point although just seems a bit pissed off haha.

If devhook didn't exist I would'ev gone with modchip, but at the moment there is no use of it, and I am %100 sure non of you are developers or even close, and last time I checked most if not all devolopments are done on FW 1.5, so your comment don't make sens, and also @15 you started calling names and acting like a baby, am cool the way I have my psp and sure you do the same, I can see a potential for the chip but not any time soon, and if I need to install one I then will do, so take a chill pill buddy.

 » i develop

i develop apps on 1.50 and emulated firmware for devhook and i don't need the chip. on the first i was waiting for it but when devhook arrived and epsilon showed as crap for some things i decided to don't mod my psp. currently i am developing a prx for devhook thing you can't do with your modchip (and you won't be able to use it btw)

   by EpsilonUser (Unregistered) - 2006-07-27
 » @19 WRONG

Another comment from someone who clearly never even tried the chip. You can use devhook just fine with it. You can't use it with Epsilon, true, but the point of the chip is that you can flash whatever firmware you want to it. So many people have trouble understanding that.
And how do you know it delivered crap if you never got it? It's not fair to simply believe the whining of the Devhook children.
And if you want to mod Devhook, that's fine (and very safe) and all, but I'm talking about more sensitive things. If you wanted to develop the next X-flash or custom firmware, then you'd want the chip.
I understand that most people just want to play games or make little mods for their game players. That's fine, but to think that makes the modchip useless is just plain ignorant.

Its amazing how much misunderstanding (did i spell that right?) there is with the U.P.! I just want to have the fun of installing it, then go bios crazey :D, but I have devhook for now, if i could buy the U.P. at a shoop i'd provably buy it *shrug* have fun EpsilonUser, BTW did you install you chip?
