As reported earlier, the PC version of Sony's online service PlayStation Network has just went live. The portal is home to many downloadables including demos, videos, PSOne titles, and full versions of PlayStation Portable titles.

Among these is the PSP game Beats. It was internally developed by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and has already gone live in its region for 4.99 GBP or roughly around US$ 10.30.

SCEE has mentioned that Beats is also scheduled for release in North America but as of now, the only thing available for fans is a free trailer for the game which will take up about 5MB space on your memory stick.

In a nutshell, Beats is a new way to interact with the music collection on your Sony PSP. It uses a beat tracking technology to create gameplay from any song the player supplies. Other features include:

• Personalized Gameplay - Beat tracking technology creates unique gameplay from any song
  
• Robust Customization - Animated backgrounds, interactive visuals and downloadable extras give the player full control
  
• Online Community - Save your jamming sessions and interact in challenge mode, playback or share online with the Beats community
• Multiplayer Gameplay - Play cooperatively or competitively with 1-4 players via Ad Hoc
