three new movies are hitting the console. The games coming out this
week are FIFA World Cup 2006, Field Commander, Lemmings, Monster Hunter Freedom and Puzzle Challenge: Crosswords & More! The UMD movies that are being released this week are 'Donnie Darko', 'Ikki-Tousen Vol. 1: Legendary Fighter' and 'The Boondock Saints'.FIFA World Cup 2006 is the update to FIFA 2006, but this time focusing on the World Cup tournament. Field Commander is a turn-based strategy game that features 3D environments and 15 army divisions. Lemmings is the newest version of the popular puzzle strategy franchise. Monster Hunter Freedom is based on the Monster Hunter G game for the PlayStation 2 but made to be portable. Puzzle Challenge: Crosswords & More! is made up of crosswords, code breakers, puzzles with cryptic clues, diamond shaped puzzles, backwards puzzles and word searches all packed up in a UMD disk. 'Donnie Darko' is a story of a average misguided teen who is told one night that the world will end in 28 days and time travel fits in there somewhere as well. 'Ikki-Tousen' is an anime series that tells the story of a war between Fighters, a group of high school students destined to battle until one emerges as the Ikki Tousen. 'The Boondock Saints' is a movie about two Irish brothers who wind up taking out a couple of Boston's mafia members. The
only thing soccer fans all over the world are looking forward for this
year is the 2006 FIFA World Cup to be held in Germany; well, that and
EA's 2006 FIFA World Cup video game set to be released this coming
April 24 in North America and April 28 in Europe and Asia on the Xbox
360, Nintendo DS, and PSP.Yes, while all heads are turned towards Germany this year, almost all of those heads turn toward video stores from time to time in anticipation of the said game. If you think I'm exaggerating, you might be surprised to know that EA's best selling game of all time is FIFA Soccer. Magnify that craze on the World Cup scale and you'll have an idea of what I mean. Banking on the game's popularity (merely two-thirds of the world's population), EA aims to demonstrate athletic excellence, undying determination and masterful skill by featuring the line-up of players joining the 2006 FIFA World Cup. EA claims this is for the spirit of the sport, but you might as well throw in some millions in revenue as a "perk". Superstars featured in the game include China's Zhi Zhen, England's Frank Lampard, Lukas Podolski of Germany, Alessandro Del Piero of Italy, Mexican Jamie Lozano, Portugal's Simao, Netherlands' Arjen Robben, Ricardo Cabanas of Switzerland, Spanish Xavi and USA's Claudio Reyna. Featuring stunning visual representations of the world's superstar players, gamers take the helm as they steer their team from the
eliminations to glory. Apart from taking control of one
of 127 national teams, players will enjoy groundbreaking new play
modes. Gamers gets the chance to recreate classic moments in FIFA World
Cup history with modern teams via Global Challenge feature. Now if that doesn't give you a kick, maybe I will. |
