"It's time to stop bad-mouthing EA." This is what David Rutter,
producer for Electronic Arts FIFA game franchise, had to say to the
naysayers and critics that have nothing but the worst to say about his
company. There has been a lot of EA-bashing for some time now, so
Rutter comes to EA's defense, with a small confession of his own.
“It does upset me that people bad-mouth EA, and I used to be one of those people," he admitted. "But the fact that I am allowed to spend so much money on making good gameplay, without having to do anything gimmicky, to me speaks volumes of the work Peter Moore and other people in the organization are doing." This is coming from the guy that Moore tasked with the heavy burden of topping FIFA's performance last year. “I am extremely proud and privileged to be doing this job,” he said. And by "this job" he means meeting Peter Moore's targets for FIFA 10 (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS, PSP, PC, PS2), which include getting a bigger slice of football's two billion fans than the 10 million they already have, plus netting an average score at Metacritic of 90 or better. With all the features they've already packed into FIFA 2010, the target may not be that far from grasp. I'm totally in the same boat with Rutter here. EA isn't perfect, but they're working hard to change the image. Just like when some people bash QJ. There are shortcomings here and there, but we're all gamers working hard for the games we love. and what's next year's gonna be like and the year after that
if EA wants people to stop bad mouth then stop releasing patches as games
but people continue to buy it so it's our fault i guess

» I agree with him
EA has put out some amazing games recently, both new IPs and sequels. EA is no longer the industry whore. I think that title belongs to Activision now

I agree with Master Chef. Ea really tried to change their image with releasing great games and good sequels. They're are still not a good company, but it gets better and better.
Activision on the other hand produces more crappy Guitar Hero titles, is destroying great IPs like Brütal Legend, and then throws a lawsuit at EA because they tried to develop a cool game they trashed.

Instead of making crappy games and selling them at premium prices EA is just ripping money from the consumer through terrible dlc. Most of the dlc is not worth the price or should have/could have been in the game at the shipping time. Also game stores such as the sims 3's stuff should be free.

» Sorry EA for hurting your Feeling!!!!!
But your still ***** AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH

excuse me but you WELL deserve such critique. EA has the worst devaluation rate ever (square are fast approaching but EA will always be first) so what does that mean? Gamers feel cheated. Two years and servers are down? This is the ONLY company that does this kinda crap. You attempted to alter the harsh criticism on wikipedia and you got owned. You made companies to close down, gaming franchises to decrease in quality due to deadline constraints...if anything, this is what is perceived as video game FASCISM.
The only game I really enjoyed made by EA was Boom Blox. The vast majority of EA's catalogue (with the exception of very few well established sports series - sans fifa of corse) just scream production values in order to hide gameplay under the carpet. How you managed to get the first harry potter game to have raving reviews is beyond me for instance.
Start making better games by preferring quality to deadlines, TRY to control the devaluation rate (you know it is much better to take back all the remaining fifa stock than seeing last year's game for less than 10 Euros) and maybe the bad mouthing will stop.

» They called their mommy?
Stop teasing EA, or else I'm telling! oh nos!
Meh, I have never bought a game that I regretted as much as Spore. Every bit of it screamed, "You've been tricked and no, you can't resell it thanks to DRM"
I blame EA for thier meddling in Will Wrights masterpiece.
Speaking of which, their online game download service (for the creature creator) is a horrible horrible joke. You can only download once unless of course you beg like an animal. And, I have never seen a wait to begin a download that I paid for. Not a small wait, but a whole DAYs wait before they finally allowed me to download the game I purchased.
Sorry, rant over. Yes, they've made a few gems recently, but you can't call them saints. I'm not saying I won't buy EA games, I'm just saying that I'll double check reviews for their games and not just pick them up off the shelf.
