PSP 3.40 appears in South Korea - Image 1

We're not certain if you are aware of this but Sony has an official dedicated site for the PlayStation Portable (PSP) in South Korea. Despite that, we believe that this move is rather sneaky for a company that has the homebrew community breathing down its neck.

Folks, welcome PSP Firmware 3.40. Oh Jeesus!

Now what does this one do? We're not too certain for now because the official sites for other markets, especially the English-speaking ones, are yet to be updated. Anyway, this was generated by an online translation engine:
  • It enjoyed PLAYSTATIONNetwork tie frames and the function for was strengthened.
  • [these sense civil officials] were eliminated.
  • [Is indicated information which from this sense civil official] with afterwords it will be able to confirm as a same fabrication.
  • After selecting the icon of the game information the reporter [it selects △ buttons information] consecutively from the option menu.
We know that didn't make a lot of sense but the point is FW 3.40 has been released. In case this appears on your territory, we recommend staying away from it first. As you will all remember, DAX's PSP encountered a hardware problem - his UP modchip decided to stop working as he was trying to work on his latest custom firmware. Anyhow, here's a screenshot of that page:

FW 3.40 Screenshot - Image 1

Thanks gmwave for the tip!

Talking with fellow QJ blogger Pranav T., he mentions that PSP firmware 3.40 has already been decrypted. Yes, FW 3.40 for the PSP (which hasn't surfaced on the U.S. and Japan PlayStation sites as of writing), has already been decrypted.

Citing reliable contacts, it has come to our knowledge that, apparently, the keys haven't changed - this means that Team C+D's decrypter for firmware 3.30 will work on FW 3.40. We'll be updating you as more info comes our way.

D_A's psp wore out and broke of over usage ,, not " DAX broke his unit trying to crack FW 3.30"

Re: Right about this. (Unregistered) - 2007-04-18
» Sony have no idea what they're doing.

Sony are just pissed off because they KNOW they should have embraced homebrew not locked it out. Now it's too late to go back on what they've already done so they clone firmwares (3.40 is 3.30) hoping that people might update. They just just bite the bullet and give D_A a job. At least he knows what the public want. Oh, and they should hire Ahmen as well. Imagine if the PSP had the functionality of IRShell built into the XMB...

PSP Custom Icons for 3.30 OEA

I sent this to QJ like 3 days ago but they never posted it. You can use custom icons including top_menu from all previous firmwares with version 3.30OEA. Visit

http://zingaburga.freehostia.com/forum/showthread.php?tid+996

for directions on how to do it. Also, if you want the modified version of Black32 Encore 4 that works with 3.30OEA, then email me at "janie@photographyzen.com"

   Re: tired (Unregistered) - 2007-04-18
 » try a lil harder...

for christ sake, can't you find a fu,kin.g Korean buddy to translate it for you? I can get korean chics at school to translate me PROPERLY, not fuc.king Google tranlator *****.

At least you could've asked Cho Seung-Hui to lend you a hand... Oh wait he's dead... AND BY THE WAY GAMES VIOLENCE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH HIS RAMPAGE!!!

Let's repeat this over and over here at QJ. Kiddos, Jack Thomson (man of family, grown up and responsible, not the only legislator trying to put laws restraining violence), Spitzer (New York governor), and in general everyone who opposes blocking violent exposure to the young (inluding moms) ARE DEAD WRONG AND DELUSIONAL.

QJ is right, this is a fight between US vs THEM. Kiddos, it's OK for you to play games with bloadbath. Just forget Disney, what you need to play is how to tear up bodies (the more gorish the more points you earn), carnage and bloadbath
!!! YUeepii...

By the way, QJ editors why don't you guys drop that shi.tty selfrighteous attitude and give the benefit of the doubt about this whole issue?

Errr... Movie ratings anyone? Don't rating already exist in games? This issue isn't something retarded and stupid as QJ is trying HARD to portray. This is real, I've seen several times lil kiddos at game stores pointing at ULTRA-VIOLENT games only for their moms say "HELL'NA", "DON'T TRY ME". I know a parent who made her 18 year old RETURN some ULTRA-VIOLENT game. So figure that.

There are barriers set at every stage of the growing up process, intended to create the right moral balance.

Perhaps you think is fine your 5 old children watch porn and play blodletting, gore, snuff games. But guess what, 99% of the world doesn't think so.

Lastly, have you heard of those Children Armies in Africa? I bet that isn't a tragedy!!! It's just perfectly fine, ha ha ha ha HAHAHHADHAHWEHASDH!!!

Sorry, I use to like QJ but this bull***** attitude lately is really antagonizing me.

*Support for Playstation Network titles has been expanded.

*The method of managing certificates under [Game] has been changed.

thats what the update says it does.

» There is a reason for it PPL

Sony is doing theyre Best to stop the wave of PSP piracy which is ruining theyre system give them some credit ppl! If they release a new FW then all games created thereafter will require that FW to run Now i know there are ways around it but they wanna stay a step ahead of Dark_aleX in FW because homebrewers can boot ISO's Straight from the XMB

 » kskid4life...

maybe you just need to be more careful... I've been flashing for over a year as well, with not one brick at all. And that brick that you had two months ago had nothing to do with flashing if it was just working fine and then stopped working. Something would have went wrong right after the flash ;)

 » Listen...

You can Flash Your PSP aproximately 10,000 Times before you experience problems due to flash this rings true with a memorystick duo as well or for that matter any flash memory device

I hope DAX decides to make another custom firmware for this new update when it is released in some of the other regions because it sounds like there were bug fixes and some issues that were fixed.

   Re: kefka12 (Unregistered) - 2007-04-18
 » theres no point

dax should wait for a major update before doing anything. it looks like this update doesnt offer anything major. theres no point in having our devs go through so much for so little. give em a break. or if you like the features, ask to have them implemented in a custom firmware, like maybe 3.30oe-b or 3.03oe-d.

Re: Wicked Insider (Unregistered) - 2007-04-18
 » Kefka12

Is correct, lets our devs relax till really needed.
OE-b/c for small updates. Right on, your dead on.

Dark_AleX, we need backup!
Again...
We wont gain any advantages by keep cracking firmwares. Sony only implements ***** in them anyway.
When Dark_AleX releases an OE firmware, sony releases another firmware, with no new features noir bug fixes.
POINTLESS! >(

Functions to enjoy PLAYSTATIONŽNetwork titles have been strengthened.
[Certificate Utility] has been erased. It can now be accessed by pressing the triangle button and selecting information of the game chosen.

This is pretty much what was added in 3.40.
Once again, as a Korean, my deepest condolences and apologies for the families that suffered from the massacre of Virginia Tech. I feel deeply enraged that Korean would commit such a crime that can never be forgiven. God bless those families that suffered the massacre, and I hope people do not consider all Koreans to be potential mass murderers.

Nukat, your translation is welcomed among us single-language boneheads. thank you.

Also, your comment about hoping stereotyping Koreans, don't worry about it. the old saying goes "those that matter don't mind; those that mind don't matter." in other words, only fools attach an entire group to one person's wrongs. look at Jack Thompson.
