Fanjita: Three ways to obtain Pandora's Battery files and info - Image 1QJ.NET reader TOY pointed to us an interesting and helpful link over at online auction site eBay started by no other than Fanjita himself. Ever since the Pandora's Battery exploit has been perfected, a lot of people have been trying to rip off innocent PSP owners by selling instructions, free software, and copyrighted software.

As you all know, these things can be obtained for free in several sites like here at QJ.NET, and you can perform the unbricking and downgrading part on your own without the help of others. So what did Fanjita do to combat these up-to-no-good people? Well, according to him, you have three options:

Of course, we will understand if you prefer the last option but choosing the second one is more like showing your appreciation for the developers. After all, the above mentioned buy-it-now option is only listed for 0.99 GBP or roughly around US$ 2.00. Like Fanjita said himself, the choice is yours.

The Read link below should take you to Fanjita's eBay auction link.

Fanjita just couldn't keep his hand out of the cookie jar for pandora profits could he? S'pose that's warranted though.

Considering that there's a direct link to the information for free, you're totally wrong. That's like saying the Salvation Army "just couldn't keep their hands out of the cookie jar for poverty, could they?".

The fact is, this info is free, and this "auction" is more to inform people who might pay for the info that there's no need. It goes on to say that if you'd like to give a donation, that's fine too.

Besides, even IF he would try to profit from this, he would be profiting from his own product.

yes, you're right, since www.c@shcrate.com/259295 (replace the @ with an A) is so much better. BTW, qj should make a "spam" button so that we can simply block all these jerks who are spamming us! You know, like on youtube, so that when we hit "spam" on a comment, it's hidden. That way, people like me who have an important message can share it without getting interrupted by spammers.

I think all the developers deserve to be paid, they save your dead psp and make you profit a 200$ and they do it free..And they do it instead of spending that time for working a paid job..So we all need to protest all the f**king scammers who sells the information freely available worldwide..This is not fair..

I see nothing wrong w/ someone selling the battery / memory stick. It's not like anyone is making a huge profit. That battery and memory stick cost money. Any anyway. Where were you people when they started to sell bottled water! I mean for ***** sake ... it's water!

you were to spend alot of your time to make a program, or create a work of art, painting, photo, book for people to see on your website,
and i downloaded it.. signed my name at the bottom.. and put it on ebay for £30 each.. would you be happy?

   Re: FreePlay (Unregistered) - 2007-09-04
 » Just one thing.

The memory stick contains copyrighted files. Selling it is illegal.

 » Profiteering?

If it were possible to list things for free on eBay, without having to pay insertion and sale fees, then that's what I would have done.

The listing was intended as a highly-visible way to undercut the profiteers, at source, and it seems to have worked - the majority of listings that you can see for 'psp unbricker' on ebay are now listed at a similar price, and many are in the same spirit as my listing, which is good.

The intention of this listing is not to sell, just to disseminate the information. Total sales across 3 similar listings are about £15, of which at least £5 has gone on fees etc. That's hardly raiding the cookie jar, and is actually much more than I expected when listing these auctions - I was just hoping to cover the initial fees, if that, since I'd rather not have to spend my money (as well as time) to help others to avoid being ripped off.

   Re: sup? (Unregistered) - 2007-09-04
 » hello!

hey, I am am one of the guys selling this product. Ok, look, if I was as lucky as you to have a posse of 5 or 6 programmers who were lucky enough to know programming (I know it does not take effort, since I decided to take the hardware route to computing. I can effortlessly repair computers and destroy them, since I decided to teach myself the hardware aspect. You on the other hand, decided to take the software route to computer enlightenment, so don't get your panties in a bunch). Also, the only scammers you should be mad at are the ones who are selling it for $50 or more and who are not disclosing anything on ebay. I on the other hand, am charging only $30, and am specifically stating what I'm doing, i.e. stating that I'm using pandora's kit.

Customers know that it's available for free, but the reason they come to me is because they want a professional to do it. So, instead of risking breaking their PSPs (or because they don't have the tools necessary to create the kit themselves), I as a good samaritan am charging them a nominal fee to do it for them! So if anyone should be ashamed, it should be big wigs like YOU, who are too vainglorious to help others! If it bothers you so much that I'm sharing the joy of homebrew with others, why don't you retire or something?! (Wait, I take that back: First, create FW 3.60 OE, since it'll only take you like 10 minutes to make, THEN retire!) Thanks. Oh, but on a more serious note, I wish to say thanks for releasing the pandora kit. I appreciate it.

 » Here's a translation of Sup's post

For those of you who don't want to read it or are too naive to not be able to look underneath the faulty logic.

Hi, I am one of the ***hats who rips off other people's work and then pretends like it takes immense skill to then do something a trained monkey could do. I do not beleive that I am doing anything wrong, as I state in tiny print near the bottom of my auction that I got this stuff for free from the Promethius team. I beleive that since people who are not used to the scene are unsure of what to do, it is my right, NAY, my DUTY to make sure to sap these as much money as possible. Secondly, I beleive that Fanjita (and the Promethius team) are at fault here for putting so much time into it, so SHAME ON YOU FOR NOT PUTTING MORE TIME INTO HELPING EACH INDIVIDUAL AMONGST THE THOUSANDS.

By the way, I doubt that you will make any giant leaps in the hardware aspects of technology sup, so I think you should reconsider your statement that software-based computer tasks take less effort would be the stance that only a moron who wants nothing but a quick buck would take. Any fool can claim to be able to do things over the internet anyway. If you think that copying some files to a memstick and then running them on a psp is "risking breaking their psp," then go into politics, since your exaggerations would fit right into place in their world.

Re: Dear Sup? (JMS posting) (Unregistered) - 2007-09-04
 » You ungrateful little...

b*st*rd! And you wonder why these awesome developers leave. If you were really a "good samaritan" then you would donate all the profit you gained into Fanjita and his teams paypal account.

Re: some random guy (Unregistered) - 2007-09-04
 » re

I cannot believe he said that programming "does not take effort" or that he can "effortlessly" repair computers. He obviously does not know anything about hardware or software enggineering.

 » Cool

I'm glad Fanjita's putting this out on Ebay to fight all of those jerks trying to rip off everyone with illegal sales... I mean Pandora is free software... whoever sells this software is SCUM..
Anyways i think putting out the donation idea is really good because, i mean, the makers of Pandora worked so hard on this thing and really everyone is putting Fanjita down for just giving out an OPTIONAL DONATION LINK! There's even a free link there too! so everybody quit your whining, show them a little respect, and donate for their kindness to the homebrew community...

i 2nd that post...

they arent saying "hey you HAVE to give us money" they just made an optional link to click if you want, they have a donate button on there site

cheers

Why are people complaining about this? On his ebay link he clearly states where you can find the software for free.
I can see a need for people buying the pandora battery and mem stick on ebay if they dont know anyone that has a custom firmware enabled psp to make it, but if they simply sell what Fanjita created, they need to be smacked down.
i ran across a site yesterday that was selling all of Fanjita's work for $30. these people need smacked down.
