Inasmuch as the saying that "When a door closes, a window of opportunity opens" is true, I guess the reverse of that holds just as much water as well. When a window opens, a door closes. Or something like that. While everyone is celebrating the highly successful TIFF exploit and HEN, Team Noobz is feeling a little downcast (although they too are celebrating!).
Posting over at the Noobz site just now, Fanjita explains why they have mixed feelings about it: I sit down to write this post with mixed feelings. On the one hand, I have to congratulate MaTiAz and Davee for their recent excellent work on the TIFF exploit and HEN. Their project is exciting, and I'm sure we're all waiting with excitement for their upcoming release. It shows that the PSP homebrew scene has not been defeated by Sony's latest efforts, and long may the spirit of competition continue. It's also nice to see so much cooperation within the community. Great stuff. But on the other hand, this obsoletes the work we were doing on an eLoader for the GripShift exploit - there's no need for it, since the TIFF exploit should work on all PSPs, with or without the game. We've worked hard on it, but so many busy events in our lives (parenting, moving house, pressures of work in the current economic climate) have meant that progress was slower than we'd hoped.
So this will be the first and only project that we've announced but not followed up on. For that, we're sorry - but at least it's been obsoleted for the best of reasons. Here's to more homebrew development races! Cheers to all our devs! |

Good or Bad?
That it is outdated, And props to fanjita, He chose to handle this a great way, I mean, he could of gotten all pissed that All his work won't get released, but he took the high road and congratuated davee and the others who made the TIFF/HEN exploit, You have to respect him for that.
Obsolesce can be both good and bad, in this case it is bad, because it seems to Fanjita that their hard work will go in vain, because of the TIFF exploit leading to possibly a new eLoader.
its like:
- sony's official firmware is obosoleted since/as long as you can play game copies on a "modern"-modified custom firmware!
obsolete means something that is functional, but made unnecessary by a newer product/method/technology. For example typewriters are still usable for note taking, but were made obsolete with the release of computers.
this means atleast for now that gripshift eloader is outdated and mostlikely wont be released doe to the tiff HEN which is suppsed to be released tonight
Leaves one question, what about the folks who were raped on the price of gripshift? LOL?
What about 'em?
they weren't promised a hen and no one owes them a hen so its there fault for buying grip-shift at such a high price
hahahahaha lol daaammnn thats sad. sorry guys. patience is a virtue.
poor noobz team. well, now they can consintrate on making a bunch of awesome for the 3000. they ARE a group of really tallented devs..
And that's when I accidentally the WHOLE THING!!!
What is this I dont even
i lol'd
"there's no need for it, since the TIFF exploit should work on all PSPs, with or without the game"
Well, the ofw 5.50 seems to have disabled tiff support!
Not te bo all negative or something, but sony might close the door on both exploits in upcoming releases. Because of this, fanjita's and team Noobz work might be useful in the future anyway.
You never know what Sony will pull out of his hat.
For now, I would like to congratulate everyone with there excellent work, even if it isn't used in the end its efforts like this that keeps homebrew on the PSP alive.
