UPDATE: Well unfortunately, the problem is a bit bigger than what was originally thought. While the keys for most modules are unchanged, it seems that the keys for the loadcode and loadexec modules have been changed, plus they have been tagged differently. While many of the modules are decrypted, the problem is that a lot more modules are left un-decrypted, which means that Devhook emulation is currently not possible. This firmware is currently non-homebrew-able. Please don't upgrade with the hope of it being cracked anytime soon. |

"the keys for the loadcode and loadexec modules have been changed" This is no problem. I will make a exec program tonight that fowards the source code from the psar and pbp files. After it is done with this the automatic reconfigure adjustment file will automatically change the tags by setting up a host and tricking the files to think that it is being run by the administrator so that it will not be needed.

On PS3, homebrew can not result in the use of pirated PS3 games. On PSP it can, and is being used for that. Maybe when devhook/custom firmware stops including an ISO loader it'll have less resistance

There's so much piracy on the PSP, selling homebrew-allowing PSPs is costing them a lot of money - they expect to lose some money on selling the actual PSP units, but make up for that with the game sales. Homebrew apps, along with pirated PSP games are lowering PSP Game sales. Sony doesn't mind PS3 having homebrew cuz PS3 games cannot be pirated (at least not yet and even if they were, it would take like weeks to download a full PS3 game) and crappy homebrew games aren't going to really interfere with the PS3's game sales.
There's so much piracy on the PSP, selling homebrew-allowing PSPs is costing them a lot of money - they expect to lose some money on selling the actual PSP units, but make up for that with the game sales. I think they'll eventually have a dump/decrypt-proof FW. and they'll keep making games for higher and higher FWs, and they'll keep making games not bootable on DevHook. and then they have won.
