Star Wars: Battlefront 2

The people behind the amazing Timesplitters series, Free Radical, have managed to snag a little gem from LucasArts and will be developing the next Star Wars Battlefront game for yet unannounced formats. The last in the Star Wars: Battlefront series appeared on the PS2, PSP, Xbox and PC, so we would expect to see the game hit the same formats and perhaps being made for the PS3 or Xbox 360. Free Radical have been behind games like Timesplitters and Goldeneye, so it'll be very interesting to see what a prestigious developer can do with the Star Wars Battlefront series - with previous games being very successful with gamers on all formats.

Although it has been pretty much confirmed by CVG, Free Radical still refused to deny or officially confirm their involvement in the next Star Wars: Battlefront title. "I'm not currently able to elaborate on the details of our recently-announced deal with LucasArts," said Steve Ellis, a director at the studio, only adding that the deal is "a project we are very excited to have been given the opportunity to work on. It will be awesome." You can expect a join statement from Free Radical and LucasArts sometime in the future.

Oh good. Pandemic pooched the last one. Reviewers didn't notice somehow, but I sure did. Hopefully Free Radical wont somehow FORGET TO LIGHT AN ENTIRE LEVEL or LEAVE GIGANTIC TEXTURE SEAMS IN THE SKYBOX. Maybe, *hope*pray* They'll even bring the damned Republic Gunships back to Geonosis.

did you just say "more better?" lol

i kid.

i enjoy the Timesplitters series, so this announcement is a welcome one, as i enjoy the Battlefront series also.

i'm sure Pandemic is working on a new IP, so it only makes sense to hand the reins over to an equally capable developer.

my stomach tightens everytime a publisher announces that they're leaving development of a followup to a popular franchise in the hands of a new team.

it'd be like Kojima Productions saying Core was handling the next Metal Gear Solid title. frightening.
