Homebrew - GPSP v03/11/2008 - Image 1The modded GameBoy Advance emulator for the PSP gets another update from the anonymous Japanese coder we've been hearing about for the past couple months. Now on gpSP mod 20090210, we're pretty stumped once again on what the changes are.

Comparing the archive of this latest version and the previous one, however, there seems to be a new folder, one which contains an eboot specific for iR Shell. As such, we've had little to no luck trying to translate the Japanese readme files either.

 » iR Shell EBOOT

Just a guess but Im thinking the iR Shell EBOOT is so it can be used as a plugin for iR Shell like previous releases have been able to do.

Assign gpSP EBOOT as plugin then just push 'X' on any GBA rom from any folder in your PSP and it will boot the game

I think that the PSP is the best product Sony has ever made. Ever other product, they have basically used and abused their customers. Look at the PS3, whats with rootkits in CD, Blu ray is a joke.

And people thing dear old Blackthorn is a Sony hater! LOL!

The PSP for sure is the premier portable platform this generation from a pure hardware perspective - no contest - but you'll only ever see it's true potential fully realised when you install a custom firmware and I think most people will agree on that.

As such, I don't personally think Sony has done the gaming public and real favours here, it's actually the brew community that has done all the real hard work.

That said, I'd really like to see the brew community shift their attention more to emu's that really are not fully realised yet as stable releases. gpSP has been pretty damn solid for some time now, why not get your focus onto a good quality MAME emu - something the PSP platform still badly lacks on.

Even the GPx's MAME Emu makes the PSP offerings look poor....

Once again, my current version of this works better than the new one...

I am about to write on my page, Barts News, about emulation of GBA, so it would be good to test this against the best version.

Thanks!

The version I have right now is Unofficial gpSP 3.2 Test 8.7...it's almost identical to this one still, just with a slightly different GUI and a rearranged menu...

I use it on a PSP-1001 with 4.01 M33-2, and I tested it with both Pokemon Emerald and Golden Sun: The Lost Age...both versions run Emerald at full speed, and even though they both can't run Golden Sun full speed, the version I have already runs it a little faster...

Here's a copy of it if you wanted to mess around with it:
