The README further notes that:
  • When you installed the custom firmware in your flash you can remove the "files" folder in the MS ROOT. For your own safety, is better that you rename or erase the prx called "flasher.prx" in the MAIN APP folder to avoid wrong flash times.
  • If you shutdown the machine or the psp crash, you will need use again ChickHEN R2 to load the main app and press O to reboot in the custom firmware, but if you dont shutdown the machine you are in the custom firmware forever.
For everything you need to know on CFW 5.03HEN-A, just go here.

Make sure to read the README, okay?

 » HOREE SHET!!

THIS ACTUALLY WORKS!!!!

I have a PSP-3000 God of War edition.

The installation was surprisingly simple. You probably only need to copy the eboot to your game folder and skip opening the Launch-Me.exe

I had no probs and now I'm playing my backed up games....HORRAY!!!!

Thanks to the team who made this possible!

   Re: slither2009 - 2009-06-05
 » hmmm..

I've noticed that some iso games don't detect the memory stick. They claim there isn't enough space free even though there is like 2GB available on the stick.

I wonder if the HEN can load ciso images too???

   Re: slither2009 - 2009-06-05
 » How does this startup?

If you hard reboot your pc or if your battery is flat etc... you need to launch the Chicken HEN R2 then launch the Installer-Loader and press O to reboot in 5.03 HEN GENA-A Full mode.

Just in case anyone was wondering.

Awesome work by the whole team behind this!

I only wish they held onto this until the PSP Go comes out. Sony will obviously patch the firmware for it to defeat this.

 » Real Custom Firmware

Seriously, CFW Loader, GEN-A, why is everyone so afraid to make a real custom firmware, ya know, one that stays after a hard reset. These stupid ChichHEN reliant custom firmwares are annoying, because the main reason I want a custom firmware is so that I don't have to deal with the 100 or more times I have to retry the ChichHEN exploit just to actually run it again. This is really becoming a pain. For now I will just fix up my 1000, but I really want a get a new one to replace it, this is falling apart.

 » STFU

If you are so good, develop it yourself then.

   Re: akadewboy - 2009-06-05
 » The problem is:

They aren't AFRAID to make one, it's just they can't yet. They haven't figured out how to hack the pre-IPL and IPL in the TA-88v3 and PSP3000. There's a new encryption in those models that hasn't been cracked yet.

   Re: Foolmonkey - 2009-06-05
 » retard

If they attempt to make a real custom firmware they would probably brick their psp rendering it useless since the havent even cracked the psp-3000 files yet and there is no pandora. If there WAS a pandora for the TA-088v3 and 3000 then none of this would be necessary in the first place! Cuz then we could put cfw on ANY PSP regardless of firmware or model. So basically... STFU!

   Re: segaloco - 2009-06-06
 » Cant they just...

If they can use the exploit to dig in and add files to the flash, can't it just as well overwrite old files. Is there something wrong with the HEN that only allows adding, not modifying or something.

I cant get it to install to my Memory Stick !

I'm not a noob, Ive followed the read-me "WORD" to "WORD"!! But the installer refuses to install it to the Memory Stick! Instead the files get copied to the same folder as the extracted zip!

The reason most probably is coz my PSP is registered as Removable Disk (M:) !!

CAN ANYONE MANUALLY POINT OUT WHERE TO DUMP THE FILES?

Thanks in advance!

I initially had the same problem. When you run "launch-me" to do the install, enter your PSP Unit Drive without a colon. (ie: M not M:). Worked for me.

But after rebooting still firmware shows to be OFW 5.03 any idea why.........

Initially it didn't work for me, I was trying for the whole day to install Chicken Hen R2.. then went out for a walk and then came back and this time I got CFW 5.03GEN-A for HEN into my PSP 3004 by using launch... and now all the files are in place n

this time I ran Chicken Hen R2 again n wala this time it went down as it needs to with flashin color screen
MOST IMPORTANT if CHICKEN HEN R2 Works.. it comes back automatically....
n after that installation of CFW 5.03

Im new to all of this, so would appreciate if anyone would point me to the right direction....

I have a PSP3006 and I have been able to run ChickHen R2 plus the CFW 5.03GEN-A

Im using a SanDisk 8GB MagicGate Pro Duo and i've tried several ISOs & CSOs but none are showing in the memory stick section of Games in the XMB like it should...

So how do i make them appear? lol forgive me for wrong terminology...im still a NOOB! :P

And could anyone direct me to the QJ forums that are dealing with the CFW5.03Gen-A discussions so i could talk about it in depth?

once again correct me if im wrong plz...thanks in adv!

   Re: Bishan - 2009-06-06
 » A little note...

yes CSOs and ISOs both are working perfectly and the directory paths are corrected to x:/ISO
in the main root! But you need to have a UMD inserted in the drive or else you get an error code and the PSP says game could not be started! Hmmm...

   Re: 1ofamillion - 2009-06-06

I meant about without a UMD in...sorry, I forgot to add that +
   by Bishan - 2009-06-06
 » Bug? Maybe!?!

I was trying to put like 4-5 games alltogether and i found out that certain ISOs or CSOs mess up other ones if you load them together! Had to delete some and reload in order to run them again so putting lotta backups together is NOT adviseable

Games I've found to mess up:
God Of War Chains of Olympus
Need For Speed Undercover

both these backups messed up my Patapon 2 and MGS:PO backups and when i tried to run them the PSP froze and i literally had to take out the battery to reset it!

just sharing my findings! cant gurantee this will happen to you too!
