Guys, it's official! The PSM guys dig homebrew too! vettefan from our forums, and more importantly, the maker of Pimp My Garage has just informed us about an article in the latest edition of PSM - PlayStation Magazine. Here's a scan of that page. It talks about the GTA Cheat Device by Edison Carter, plus more goodies like PMG by vettefan and AdePSP, and CheatSync by AdePSP. There's a lot of info for people who've never touched homebrew. Plus, they even try to discourage their readers from updating to the new 2.7 firmware! |

THAT R0x :D
Hopefully Sony will listen. The homebrew community shall be praised if Sony listens to this article and sees that the cheatdevice and many other hombrew aplications are awesome. Hah, yeah they never will, but it is cool to see the qffects of homebrew are strectching to magazines like PSM.
Wow, they are like celebs. now xD.
Ka-ching, Ka-ching
That's so wierd. Is this the first time someone official is supporting it? All credit to Justin Cheng. Yeee!!
Since GTA works on 1.5, can't they make this cheat device work on 1.5 too ???
i'm on 1.5 and not planning to update just for the cheat device ...
Yes I couldn't agree more. Homebrew is cool. But I don't think that sony will ever knowingly allow homebrew on any F/W because that means that they would be endorsing the illegal use of other companies roms, which inevitably they could be sued over.
I just love playing Secret of Mana again on my PSP along with all my other roms.
Homebrew forever
that is crazy as hell.. being mentioned in PSM.. simply amazing.. good job edison carter
I saw something like this before in OPM.
I think it was the "Get online with Wipeout Pure!"
They're usually good with the homebrew scene
Woot. way to go, edison, vette, ade. You're the best.
Thanx guys....Iam glad my work is on magazines..Iam going to continue my work until iam on T.V

Apoptosis, gamepack (gp2x) does it, and they even made a gameboy emulator for it officially.
People, you do know that it is illegal to post magazine scans without permission, as magazines are copyrighted, QJ, you ban me for sharing a dump of 2.5 that anyone can get, yet you alow a illegal magazine scan.....hmph
They still blocked it, so really it just shows how stupid this homebrew prevention thing is getting. Then again it is are fault for creating ISO and UMD loaders, that is what started everything. Maybe with hope sony will allow the cheat device again.....one day.
Oh man! I can so see it comming!
www.maxbot.com is SO gonna get TRAFFIC! I wouldn't be surprise if the site goes down due to bandwidth exceeded. lolol
Well I'm happy for the DEVs who made it to PSM.[Carter and the makers of CheatSync & Pimp your Garage] But I am sorta bummed that homebrew is making its way to mainstream. Sorta liked the 'underground-ish' feeling of it. Also, after everyone starts looking this up start to try out homebrew the noob population will go up alot! Even noobish questions will raise! Well goodluck and I hope more DEVs will be recognized. And who knows. Fanjita and Ditlew may even be on E3, G4, or any gaming show/magazine.
A lot of magazines don't report about homebrew and all the cool stuff. Some cool magazines like the german "Mobile Gamer" say you should update to avoid bricked psps... And the cool freaks from Maniac also don't report about the cool homebrewstuff but I am sure, they own a lot of 1.5 psps :-) Cool, that now a magazine reports about the cheat device. Rockstar should kick Sonys ass and build in another exploit in the next GTA for the PSP, whenever it will be released...
congrats ade, it was an honar to be a beta tester good job!! :)
i just read this out of my friends psm at gym today, im 12 hb to me, i know c++ too
homebrew in the offical playstation magazine im suprize sony aint mad
NO. Sony could NOT get sued over allowing homebrew code to be run on their console, the coders that code emulaTORS ARE THE CLOSEST THIGN TO GETTIGN SUED, BUT EMULATORS ARENT EVEN ILLEGAL! THE USE OF ROMS FORMA GAME WHICH YOU DOTN OWN IS ILLEGAL, AND FOR ANYOEN TO ET SUED, THE COMPANY such as nintendo would have to search out every person who downloads SNES, NES, N64, GC, GBA, DS etc. roms and sue them all. well theres no time for that and they woudl eb wastign money if they were dumb enuff to do soemthign like that.
So no, you cant get sued for allowing code to be runon ur system, I mean, can we sue microsoft for allowing windows to run emulators?
I think this is great! I think tis really cool to see this appear in a magazine. It wont change sony's mind, NOTHING will, but thye definately will see this and will know that homebrew gets their system publicity.
PRAISE TO THE GEEKS!!

One hell of a sentence.
Look I'm not saying sony would get sued, I said 'could'. Companies could & would plausibly try this avenue of thought, but I doubt they would win. Maybe I should have used the word 'hypothetically' as well as 'could'.
@ # 13 Yes I do know about GP2X Strangler. But this machine is 'Open source' & not affiliated with any of its emulated consoles.
@ # 22 I understand your sentiments RaiderX, but your analogy of Microsoft is flawed, as microsoft's windows is a piece of software not hardware like the PSP.
I've been using emulators since Mame 0.12 & they are great.
The software which emulates the games are not illegal. It is the roms which are, unless you own the originals. ROFL
I also understand that software companies do not sue individuals yet (as does sometimes happen with some music file sharing ala Napster), as they probably don't have the resources to track them down & successfuly sue them, they just go after hosting websites. Only a few days ago one of my favourite P2P websites closed down. (thepiratebay). I wish all the folks involved well, and I hope they return albeit from possibly a different location.
Long live homebrew & the PSP.
You, Mr. Spartaniimarlk6, #14, have just been pwned. Now shut up about your problems with QJ's legal policies. K? http://forums.qj.net/showpost.php?p=696016&postcount=21
Finally Edison Carter gets some recongnition from magazines.
HAHAHA
believe it or not, a PSP magazine here in Brazil actually teached users how to downgrade
beat that ;) lmao
I thought PSM is an offical PS magazine. what i mean is i thought Sony owned PSM.
Stupid me....
That is very cool to see the Homebrew and the devs getting the spot light.
PSM has had other small things about homebrew, this is awesome. Every bit of publicity helps ^_^
hmmm seems cool, but sony are stupid man! planning to allows homebrews on PS3 but not on PSP??? in french we say " PROPAGANDE" they are doing that just to say.. he PSP ppl wanna messed with us and pissing us off for about a year.. well lets do it for the PS3.. BUY IT!!! my answer to that.. EAT $hit Sony!!! ive been buying sony since ever.. PS1, PS2, PSP not its F****ING over!!! good bye $ony, Hello X360! Bill Gates might be a retard.. but at least he never stopped me of doing my own ***** on his platforms.. well PC anyway!
