Rental chains not to offer Manhunt 2 - Image 1And the woes of Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive regarding Manhunt 2 (Wii and PSP) continue. It has been reported that the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has already given the controversial video game an "Adults Only" rating.

This impacts the title in more ways than one. You see, it is the general rule of rental outlets not to carry movies and video games with a rating of Adult or NC-17, much less those which has been included in the AO list.

Gaming site Joystiq tried to contact GameFly for comments regarding the matter, and one of the chain's representatives explained that they will uphold the mentioned general policy. Furthermore, the gaming site also spoke with Blockbuster and found out that the rental chain will take a similar action.

Manhunt 2 is scheduled to be released on July 11 but the whole gaming industry is on its toes - curious and concerned about the developer's and the publisher's next actions.

 » mmm...

I never payed much attention to this game but all this free publicity and banning and all that is really helping this game getting popular. All you need is Jack Thomson on this case and EVERYBODY will know about it. The more you tell someone NOT to played a game, the more people are going to be interested in it. Jack Thomson has already made Rockstar millions by telling the whole world about the game, that being the opposite effect of what he wants. The best way for a game to fell is lack of plublicity and exposure.

Come on, tell me more about this game that I should not play, I'm interested.

» I agree with the ban.

I totally agree, games arent what they used to be, or could be. Rockstar's style is getting old, an we need more innovative and original games back that dont simply rely on shock value to get sold. Its a pretty low way to go about selling games.
