Guess who's got it gold today? [strikes air guitar] Tune your strings and keep those ears to the amp because the musical adventure to win Pico's heart won't end with, as the "Miss Saigon" lyrics would have it, a song played on a solo saxophone. Gitaroo Man Lives! just struck gold status, as announced by Koei. Port as it might be, the game still has a whole chord of new features to offer psychedelic rockers following the Gitaroo Man series. Gitaroo Man for the PS2 was a smash hit, true. But now in the PSP port, there's going to be two new songs titled "Toda Pasion" and "Metal Header" for the new Duet mode plus a WiFi ad hoc multiplayer mode to go head-to-head with your pals. Hitting retailers' shelves on November 14, Gitaroo Man, indeed, lives! Get ready to rock the house with this bestseller on your PSP. Unless of course, you'd rather stick to the solo saxophone... |

A lot of hearts were captivated when Gitaroo Man was released for the PS2. Indeed, it really is hard to resist the musician U-1 and his guitar teacher, Puma the talking dog. Throw in Pico and U-1's rival, Kazuya, an interesting game play and plot, and Koei and iNiS have got themselves a hit! That's why, it ain't surprising that lots of people embraced the news of Gitaroo Man Lives!, the PSP semi-sequel to the cult video game. Although the PSP version is a direct port of the PS2 game, there are two new songs that can be played in 'Duel' mode- Metal Header and Toda Pasión. So, what's with Gitaroo Man Lives now? Well, if you can't wait till its release, you can order it at Play-Asia for roughly $20 bucks, $19.90 to be exact, you'd still have to shell out an addition $3.10 for shipping, but still it is practically a steal. If musicians and a talking dog ain't your thing, you can also purchase the action-RPG Shonen Yangus and King's Field for PSP at $12.90. |

Koei has presented their line of titles at display at the E3. The Dynasty Warriors series is present in abundance, with Dynasty Warriors DS, Dynasty Warriors Vol. 2 (PSP) as well as a web-based game under the working title of Dynasty Warriors BB. The sequel to Samurai Warriors will both hit the Xbox 360 and PS2 and round out Koei's usual share of period games.
Aspiring sailors and pirates can extend their list of promising online titles (Pirates of the Caribbean Online, Pirates of the Burning Sea) with Uncharted Waters Online, a multiplayer spin-off of the long-running series that made its debut on the Super Nintendo. PS2 cult hit Gitaroo Man makes the jump to Sony's portable with Gitaroo Man Live!, while the first futuristic racer for the Playstation 3, Fatal Inertia, will mark the debut of Koei's new Canada-based studio. Finally, we have Bladestorm: The Hundred Year War, possibly the most interesting of them all. Developed by the respected Omega Force team - responsible for creating Dynasty Warriors - Bladestorm is going to be an entirely new franchise; an action game to expect as much dedication as Koei's aforementioned Samurai series.

Music tames the savage beast, goes the theme of the unforgotten PS2 classic Gitaroo-Man - unforgotten, that is, until its developer Koei Games decided to revive it for the Playstation Portable. Gitaroo-Man is a rhythm-action game that lets you take control of U1, a shy elementary student whose world did a 360 when he found out that he is heir apparent to the legendary title of Gitaroo-Man. Gitaroo-Man is an intergalactic superhero who defends the universe using the powers of the gitaroo. In the game, evil Gravillians seek to gain the last gitaroo (magical instrument) on earth, which U1 happens to be in possession of. A rocking soundtrack plus unique yet enticing visuals has made Gitaroo-Man a well-loved game for all rhythm game fanatics. And now, experience the excitment of Gitaroo-Man all over again...this time on a more balanced PSP version, which will offer a "duet" mode. Koei has not revealed the official PSP Gitaroo-Man title yet, but lets it slip that the game will be released on the 25th of May (in Japan as usual, with no word on a US release.) |
