PSP Go!Cam - Image 1Sony Computer Entertainment Europe's (SCEE) new Go!Messenger function, one of the three Go!Services they unveiled during the Leipzig Games Convention 2007, will be released on January next year. Go!Messenger features a whole new arsenal of communications for Sony PSP owners in Europe.

Go!Messenger will be available with a future firmware update and will install a new icon on the PSP's XMB. Go!Messenger will give PSP users free wireless communications over Wi-Fi, offering an Instant Messaging service and voice chat.

The IM service will feature an intuitive on-screen keyboard. It'd be interesting to see just how intuitive it will be. Video chats will also be available by making use of the Go!Cam. The service will also require a headset.

Thanks to transce080 for the tip!

 » well

what about us US users

   Re: Ranmasaotome (Unregistered) - 2007-08-27
» Well actually i was just thinking...

Actually, its in a future Firmware update correct? that isn't to say the US Version isn't going to be included in it. Just not activated. Why? The PSP tells the firmware your PSP is from the USA Region. With homebrew, couldn't you just change the region, and then be able to use the same services? *except Go! Explore of course*

i Mean Duh people? lmao

Re: Jesus Man (Unregistered) - 2007-08-27
 » I couldn't agree more.

It seems the more and more features that get released for the PSP the more the US market is left out, this is rely starting to get quite ridiculous.

BTW, there is a petition going round to get CS onto the PSP, I need everybody to start spamming PSP forum that you all belong to and share the info about this petition with others. I need everybody's help, one man can't do it alone. So spam all PSP releated and even unrelated forums so we can get Americas favorite online game onto our handheld.
Thanks

» Ranmasaotome, it doesnt work like that...

The technology required to support this stuff isnt available in US yet. Europe and japan are much more technologically advanced. They already said this in one of the previous posts.

Also, dont ppl from diff regions get their official fw updates from diff parts of the sony website?? Sony will prolly leave this code out of the USA update.

o well...this looks cool

   Re: sizedude (Unregistered) - 2007-08-28
 » oh well

well its about time we got something exclusive here in europe, the US and esspicaly the japanese seem to be getting anything months before we do, and if this Go! crap is sucessfull you will probs get it officaly to.

They should have encorpeyated, msn messenger or yahoo messenger, or both into it, then it would have been sick.

 » Firmware

whats to stop us US users from downloading the european firmware update

   Re: Ranmasaotome (Unregistered) - 2007-08-27
» Exactly what i was saying

Exactly i what i was saying! lmao, just download that EU Firmware, change the frikkin region on you homebrew enabled PSP, and your set for life my friend.

Only think i worry about is how long well it take to get the slim PSP homebrew enabled. I wonder if the Jigkick Batteries well actually work on it. chances are slim since the way its built is completely revamped... (one can still wish tho)

   Re: mohaas05 (Unregistered) - 2007-08-27
 » ...

there is no difference in between firmware updates in different regions. like ranmasaotome said, you change the region. although it would be cool if there was one for all regions (unless free region does this) where you access features from all regions such as the go messenger stuff along with the ps spot and stuff frm japan.

have fun trying

» itll work in the us too

Thanks to the fake region option in any CFW's recovery menu we will obviously be able to use this service in the US with a custom firmware update

» CFW trick may work but they make it european ip restricted or

it may just give unbelievable amounts of lagg

» Ranmasaotome i like to answer your question

the jig-kick would have worked if it was released after the slim psp's came out as fat psp battery works in slim and slims dont work in fat it would have worked if the leakers never gave it out.

 » one question...

"Go!Messenger will give PSP users free wireless communications over Wi-Fi"

What's the new technology that the US don't have here? US doesn't have wifi or routers in all the US... the MYLO have a all messengers and via WIFI too and works everywhere.. why this is different?

» How about the goddamn camera

Will we be getting that any time in the near millenium?

   Re: Lovejoy (Unregistered) - 2007-08-27
 » I freaking agree!

I want my US camera and GPS dammit!
   by urherenow - 2007-08-27
 » headset?

what makes you think it will require a headset? The PSP has it's own speakers and the Camera has a built in Microphone! Duh...

and the only thing on a PSP that is region locked is UMD videos and that's because of the movie industry. Sony can't control that. Everything else will work just fine. The TV adapter thing won't work simply because nobody is broadcasting for it here in the US. GPS? Still works... there just isn't commercial software for the U.S., but there is homebrew software that works fairly well.

the messenger works via wifii... with all the evidence at hand anyone who thinks that it just won't work in the U.S. is a moron.

 » ha

first things first the firlware that will have go messenger will have to be cracked by m33 or the likes b4 most of use could make good use of it

» Something for the Uk first at last

For years most games and consoles have been released in the US long before we Uk gamers get them. But now we are getting a messenging app first and the US gamers get outraged?

   by urherenow (Unregistered) - 2007-08-28
 » I'm not outraged

I already have a CAM, an I'll try out the firmware when it comes out. You see... in the era of Pandora I don't have to wait for, or worry about, when the firmware gets cracked because I can switch back to m33 whenever I feel like it :D
