Ready At Dawn

Back in June, Ready At Dawn officially ended PSP development. To some people, it felt like getting abandoned. They did, after all, release Daxter and God of War: Chains of Olympus - and knowing that we may never get games from them on the PSP anymore seems pretty unfortunate. *sniff* Keep that chin up though. The Grinch hasn't stolen Christmas just yet. With holiday greetings on the RAD Studios site, the team notes that two out of five of the best selling PSP games last week on Amazon (U.S.) are Daxter and Chains. That's quite an achievement, considering both games have been released for months now (holiday rush, perhaps?). Here's the clincher though. Ready At Dawn concludes their short message with: Maybe we should reconsider this whole ‘no more PSP games’ thing because we seem to be doing pretty good at it. An ominous statement if there ever was one. Here's hoping they really do reconsider it. Heaven knows, we could all use another Jak and Daxter game - something which is supposedly already being done care of another studio. Related articles:

» wow, i didnt even know they were backing out of psp games...
Its kind of dumb to stop making games for psp, you already made some good ones, and they are selling preety well.
A new Jak game would be amazing :D

» I didn't know either
hopefully people who download their games should at least buy RAD's games so they'll continue to make games for the PSP. There are barely any good games for the PSP and I'd like more.

if you check one of the related articles, the didier malenfant thing, he says that it's because "they've done everything they wanted to do on the psp and there are other platforms and other projects to do." makes sense. but they hinted that piracy seems to be the biggest reason. sigh... a shame.
i really hope they go back to psp dev.
maybe... following the daxter game, maybe they can do another D+J spinoff game. this time, a game solely for Jak - after the previous one which was only daxter! That'd be cool! and i hope that previous rumor is true too. whoever is doing the next game...

I would sooo buy their games if I had the money.
I really feel bad for not doing so, they deserve the money :(

So why did you go out and buy a PSP in the first place if you couldn't afford the games? It sounds like you're openly saying that you wanted one for the ease of piracy.

Any game that bears the publishers name "Ready At Dawn" we all know that the quality of the game will always be top notch. They made a name for themselves by making games for PSP. Those two, Daxter and God of War are amazing games especially because all elements are reproduced nicely and most notably the frame rate is exceptional.

Once I found out RAD was developing God of War, I knew it was going to be the best game for PSP just from looking at Daxter. Plus going from 222mhz to 333 improved the graphics even more (if thats possible) from Daxter, since that is what RAD wanted.
"because we seem to be doing pretty good at it."
Pretty good at it? You guys are the best. My favorite dev team needs to come back.

Damn I wish there was an 'edit post' button. I forgot to mention I e-mailed them before and after GoW was made, and both times they responded to my email, and not in a crappy "Thanks we value you as a customer," kind of way, but they actually told me some cool stuff they were developing and answered my questions I had for them. That alone is awesome in itself, because I don't know if every dev company does that?

» Well
I for one actually bought God of War Chains of Olympus during the black friday sale for 19.99. Unfortunately it went down to 14.99 afterwards, but whatever, I still got it for cheap.
After it went back up though, I thought to myself that I was pretty damn stupid. 14.99 and I have well over the amount of money to buy atleast 50 of those. Ebay anyone? Atleast 30 dollars and I'm still making 10 dollar profit each. Whatever though. I'm not an Ebay seller and would rather other games get a pretty good deal on a game than screw anyone out of a game except for ridiculous overly priced games. Unless it's extremely rare then I get pissed off when the value decreases(I'm looking at you ATLUS and the fact that you reprint your games that I own the first printing 90230598025 times.)

» It's hard to make a profit on that type of stuff after all the fees....
Buy it for $14.99 + tax $1.20 (8%)
Sell it on ebay for an average of $20 (they aren't selling for much than that currently)
So you spend $16.19 (for the game)
Ebay listing fees + $.50
Ebay final value Fee + $2
Paypal Fee $1
TOTAL spent to list a $20 game on eBay +$19.69!
Hardly worth it IMO...
