God of War: Island of Rhodes "not pron" puzzle site reveals... what exactly?

Bloody hell. After all the speculation regarding the mysterious countdown timer in the God of War website "Island of Rhode" a few weeks back, it turns out that it was nothing but a false alarm. At least, that's what everyone believed at first. As QJ reader Dave points out (thanks for the tip!), Pro-G reports that the countdown has already finished and the Island of Rhodes site is now open with - no, not info for the PSP version - but goodies for God of War II for the PS2. Videos and a wallpaper. Yay.

Recent developments though have led a lot of fans on a wild goose chase across the mysterious website because apparently, there are hidden content in the site. Someone from the GameFAQs forums was able to take a crack at it, and gave a walkthrough of how you could achieve two things: 1) the secret to unlocking HD mode in God of War II, and 2) another countdown timer that hints at the next God of War game.

Kotaku was able to flesh out the details: at the first page, just skip the videos and click Proceed. This will lead you to a page with some text and a colossus in the background. In this page, you'd have to spell out KRATOS by finding little Greek letters hidden around the page.
  • Kappa (under iota, middle right)
  • Rho (upper left corner)
  • Alpha (bottom right, left of soldier's waist)
  • Theta (under upsilon)
  • Omega (upper right)
  • Sigma (bottom right, by soldier's foot)
Once done, click Proceed again, and it'll lead you to more videos. Click Proceed to skip them if you want, which will then lead you to a slider puzzle. Took me about thirty minutes to get through that. Jeezus, I suck at these things. And once you're through, you're in page with more vids where you can click Proceed (again). Do so, and you're in a page with Roman numerals at the bottom. This is basically as far as I've gotten, but Kotaku gives us a glimpse of what lies beyond:

Above the countdown is an image that's slowly revealing itself as time progresses. And while I still can't crack past the Roman numerals page, this is all we have for now. A "G" (possibly the start of "God of War") and a "CH" under it (possibly the start of what could be the full title of the next God of War game).

A lot of people have been speculating, and most point out that, yes, as the countdown progresses, we'd eventually find out the full title for the next GoW game. However, the question is... would it be the one for the PSP? Or, what a lot of people are hoping for, a God of War 3 for the PS3?

My guess: God of War: Charmander and the Ding-dong Daddies of Doom. Huwhat?! Hey, I'm trying here! Well, any suggestions are welcome. Meanwhile, I still have to get cracking with the Roman numerals, and as soon as that's done, maybe we can post an updated pic of the counter.

To solve the third and last puzzle the code COLOSSUS worked for me. This code unlocked the Tim Moss´ comment about GoW in HD. When you click the Audience banner the new GoW game title comes up, it reads " God of War: Chains of Olympus"

I did that and i unlocked how to play GOW in HD mode, and did the code, and it looks NOTHING HD. Some ppl u'll find in like gamefaqs forums sayin that it looks bad ass and wat not, but it doesnt look different AT ALL on mine, and I have an HDTV that supports 1080p. Another thing about "HD Mode" is that it supposedly slows down the gameplay, didnt get that either and i made sure i got the purple font that signifies i did the code right many times, and nothing.

Don't you need a special PS2 HD cable in order to hook up to the TV...

damn all this GoW stuff is just toooo tight... can't wait for PSP game..

Those damn puzzles are killing me.. I used to be able to finish 'em in a min. or so and now it's taking me forever... everytime I get close to finishing with 1 or 2 pieces out of place.. the time runs out!!! and the worst part is... random puzzles!! oMG!! why's it random!!?

Didn't you notice the flaming tracks on the islandofrhodes.org site?

You really didn't pay attention to the "Island Of Rhodes" Mythology.

They did say only hardcore GoW fans would get it.

The Final Battle will be for PS3 and will most likely reveal the truth about his brother and the rest of his family. You never knew anything about them.

the HD code is as soon as u start the game, press and hold L1, L2, L3, Square and Circle. U'd know that u did it right cuz the letter would turn purple. THIS is where i get confused, after u do that, u still havent put HD mode on, u gotta go to "the menu and select it". Dont ask me wat that means but thats wat the site says and ppl think that "Progressive mode" is wat u have to "Turn on".

I haven't played a GOW game of the series in such a long time. I got half way (I think) with GOW and haven't touched it since. -sniff-

But now that I think about it, there was that chick Athena, Goddess of Wisdom (I think), that helped him through out GOW(I).

Sorry I thought it was understood that I got Athena to work and that's how the new countdown is my homepage. It was the first quote. I'm not sure exactly what is going on with the whole numeral thing. I just tried an obvious word and it worked for me. You should really try to finish GOW1 it is a great game.
