Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories - Image 1Just in time for the holidays, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy came up with a list of "do not buy" games meant to help parents in choosing games appropriate for their kids. Contrary to what most may expect, this violent game list isn't topped by Rockstar Games' Manhunt 2 (Wii, Sony PlayStation Portable).

As it turns out, this holiday season's number one game to be avoided  - according to Prosecutor Worthy - is none other than Take-Two Interactive's Grand Theft Auto (and possibly all games belonging to the same franchise), where players get to hijack cars and run over pedestrians.

Here's Worthy's list of games that should be avoided:

  1. Grand Theft Auto
  2. Manhunt
  3. Scarface
  4. 50 Cent Bulletproof
  5. 300 The Videogame
  6. The Godfather
  7. Killer-7
  8. Resident Evil 4
  9. God of War
  10. Hitman Blood Money
As a plead to the parents, Prosecutor Kym Worthy is quoted to have said the following: "Please do not buy these video games and bring them into your home. It desensitizes [children] to violent acts. It%u2019s no wonder we%u2019re seeing the crimes we%u2019re seeing lately."

List of games NOT to buy? Thanks bud, because

 » Or....

Parents could actually look at the box... Hmm.. let me see, what exactly does an 18 on a game represent... Is it the score?

All I can say is what a wonderous statement of obviousness from the nation that brought us...

"Warning contents may be hot" on the side of Coffee cups, and stickers on microwave ovens warning us not to dry our pets in them. Oh and the fact that a bag of peanust may contain nuts.

I guess these parents would be better off taking little johnny on a hunting trip, far more educational, and deffinately not likey to desensitise him to killing.

 » Lol

people do look at the box. when i was 14 and MC3 came out i had to practically give a 30min explanation that the "Rockstar" symbol didnt mean it was rated R and that the E meant for everyone... but yah ppl are stupid as hell

» you guys are all ignorant

this is a perfectly fine list. children shouldnt play these games. its a list for technologically impaired parents. they should look at the box yes, but who are we kidding, not everyone cares. this guy is just trying to help. he never said M rated games should be banned. he just said they shouldnt be sold to children.

   Re: Stealth! - 2007-12-05
 » Its not the list

Its the fact that:
1. this is only going to increase sales for these games.
2.The fact parents should take more steps in looking at the box instead of being mindless while there Son or Daughter goes and buys games. Note not all parents are like this but some are.

Yes they shouldn't be sold but then again who's fault is that, not the kids fault but the parents. Its cause of this that games gets the blame and not the parents i mean they hold all power in their house and yet they let there kids play games that has M or above. Come on. There's only so much the ratings can do, and the parents aren't getting involved nor adults. If people stop thinking Games are only for kids and play them then we wouldn't have people using games as a scape goat for the real problems.

Going out and hunting is more of a hands on experience to start killing. Since thats the sole purpose for Hunting is for killing and eating the animals.

This list while is supposed to show what games you shouldn't get isn't going to help. Most parents don't even read stuff that involved games. But kids do and if they see lists like these expect boom in sales for those games.

 » Stealth!

Yeah, you're right, it should be down to the parents; and this is about awareness, silly. Making parents aware so they know what's going on.

 » Dood, srsly?

Where is the fps love? Gears of War, Fear?

Also, shouldn't 50 Cent and 300 be on any don't buy list based solely on the fact that they sucked.

   Re: KirbySS - 2007-12-05

Gears of War isn't an FPS, dingus.

Good thing GTA1 is 10 years old, or that might of affected sales, which is hard, considering it's free now!

» That last line is classic!

"It desensitizes [children] to violent acts. It's no wonder we're seeing the crimes we're seeing lately."

Yep, it's all the games fault. F*cked up kids never existed before games like this, and violent crimes by kids never happened before these horrible games. Screw the first ammendment and ban them, that will put a stop to it, lol.

   Re: Stealth! - 2007-12-05
 » Apparenlty

They think before these games kids were saints and never did bad things. The fact is Peer pressure is some of the problems thats causing stuff like this besides who you hang out which leads to peer pressure.

These people make me laugh they have no clue what there talking about. And i wish parents would be more open about games and play them thats the only to solves stuff like this.

   Re: Jomann - 2007-12-09
 » lol your right

lol i like how they said the kids at columbine played violent games, if thats true, then pacman and pong should be banned LOL! cuz back then thats all they had XP
   by Gazz79 - 2007-12-05
 » Silent hill anybody?

if there is ever any game that should not be sold to kids, then Silent hill would top that list. Having your kids not wanting to go to sleep or go outside when there is fog would be terrible.

You know the ***** has hit the fan once your kid sleeps with a pipe next to him.

   Re: ultimax - 2007-12-06
 » It is terrible.

I'm pretty scared of fog myself see. I just can't tell whether or not a missile is headed my way. Seriousley.
