Last October, the Americas had their way with Gun Showdown. This month, it's Australia's turn! Yep folks, the classic Western FPS cum arcade adventure title finally hits Australian shelves today with a price tag of AU$ 49.95 (US$ 38). Activision is feeling quite confident because of all the dirt, dames and horses the game has to offer."With pick up and play action and all-new wireless multiplayer functionality, Gun Showdown adds to all of the great elements of the original console game and delivers the ultimate in PSP system action," states Will Kassoy, Senior VP of Global Brand Management. The original title, GUN, was actually released last year on multiple platforms including PS2, GameCube, Xbox, X360 and even a PC version. In a nutshell, Gun Showdown is about vengeance and controlling untamed West. Players have the option to be the good guy or the bad guy, depending on their whim. The game has several missions, five all in all to be exact, with each one entailing horseback riding, bounty collecting and of course, gun shooting. |

Calling all cowboys: Saddle your horses and get ready to ride as Activision games has announced that the PSPs very own cowboy 'simulator' has shipped to game stores across North America today. If free roaming in the nomadic lawless west back in the good old days with drunkenness, prostitutes, and gun slinging is your thing, then you should definitely give Gun Showdown a try. This game gives much more than the title would like to suggest though, with the action-adventure hybrid having much more proportion than your average first person shooter as the 'bullets fly, people die' trailer shows. Gun Showdown expands on what previous games have left behind, allowing you to take control of the untamed West on both sides of the law. Firstly as a gunslinger, you must shoot, knife and dynamite your way through an epic story. Good cop or bad cop, it's your choice. You'll be overjoyed that you bought your PSP when you get to see the game's list of features, taking full advantage of the PSPs technical abilities with a brand new wireless multiplayer and Quickplay modes, exclusive missions, and gameplay features that you won't find on any other console. In Gun Showdown, players have a licence to dish out vigilante vengeance as you face-off against corrupt lawmen, a murderous preacher, a renegade army psychopath, and merciless outlaws that won't listen any other way. In a world where greed, lust and murder reign, the only way to survive is to wage war on horseback, hold up banks, collect bounties on prisoners dead or alive, and commandeer trains as the lines between good and evil are drawn in blood. If you fancy a break from all the killing and bloodshed then you can settle down with multiplayer modes which allow you to team up or go head-to-head in Showdown mode; includes Deathmatch, Golden Cross and Texas Hold 'Em poker gameplay modes via the PSPs wireless network capabilities. Now doesn't that sound fun? What are you waiting for, it's out today! Preorder: [GUN Showdown] |

Bullets fly out of metal projectile launchers, so it's no surprise that a game of this name and caliber would definitely end up on a handheld. In any case, Activision's Western-themed adventure is bound to elicit a bit of squeamish groaning, as someone's head gets punched off in this video, among other things. And bears! Yep, head punching-offing is apparently in this game. Of course you also get a ton of new missions, multiplayer options, and a quickplay mode, but decapitation by punch definitely looks like fun. You also get to fight bears for some reason, which seemed somewhat out of place in this trailer, but well, that's the price you pay for metal projectile launchers, death sucker punches, and a violent shoot-em-up extravaganza. Thank goodness. Finally, an article about this game without any mention of the word "gun" in the body! Er... Dagnabbit. Wait for this game to come out in the fall, and remember, there are over 200 possible synonyms for the word "gun," but there's only one Gun: Showdown. |

In his seminal work, The Little Red Book, Mao Zedong mentioned that power grows out of the barrel of a gun. With that, you can't really blame Colton White, the main character of Activision's GUN Showdown, if he decided to take justice into his own hands and seek revenge. As they say, there's a thin line between good and evil, so just because you decide to take arms doesn't mean you've embraced your dark side. Sometimes, one must fight, be it for himself or for others; "A shepherd must tend to his flocks to protect it from wolves". But enough of the serious talk because it doesn't suit us. We now have some videos of the game, set to be released on the third quarter of this year. Spaghetti Western flicks of the 1960s have catapulted the careers of Hollywood legends Clint Eastwood and Henry Fonda. Hopefully, this Activision western title would also suffer the same luck. Whether the game's a hit or a miss, well, that's for you to decide on. A bit confused about it? Maybe these vids could help you out. Download: [GUN Showdown Videos] Pre-Order: [GUN Showdown] |

Scheduled to be released on October 10, Activision's Gun Showdown is clearly showing who's boss in the Wild West with these new screenshots. The game is set in the late 1800s, where you can fight outlaws, hunt for bounty and upgrade your weaponry. Ghost towns, riding horses, and arming yourself with rifles spell out the ultimate lawless fun. But running around town chasing after bandits won't be the only thing in store for you here. There are six new Quick-Play modes, including Texas Hold 'Em, which allows you to immerse yourself in some card action - a diversion from all that missions. Check out these screenshots to see just what kind of western action you're gonna get yourself into with this game. More screenshots after the jump! |

Despite the allure of the Wild West, Westerns haven't exactly been popular when in comes to video games. But all that is set to change as Activision brings a sordid tale of revenge, justice, and a whole lotta violence to the PSP. In Activision's GUN Showdown, players take on the role of Cotton White, a gunslinger out for revenge in the wild and untamed West of the late 1800s. In this lawless land, the line between good and evil are blurred, and lust and brutality are a way of life. This exclusive version for the PSP will have all of the action contained in the console versions, along with a few extras: all-new side missions, quick-play modes, multiplayer modes, and gameplay features unique to the PSP system. For starters, let us just say that this game looks mighty interesting. We've always been fans of the Preacher comic, and any time we're given the chance to pretend we're playing as the Saint of Killers is one chance that we will definitely take 100% of the time. OK, maybe Cotton White doesn't exactly look like the man who literally froze hell, but we'll take what we can get. That said, we have a few screenshots of GUN Showdown available here today for your perusal. Just click on the thumbnails below to see the full-sized images. Enjoy! |

Activision's Gun Showdown continues to impress us with some notable improvements in content and appearance of new missions for its PSP offering. Also included in the upcoming title are exclusive weapons and new modes of play. Set to fire away in Europe before the end of 2006, this Western-themed shooter is currently being developed by Neversoft, who also worked on the console versions of Gun. Gun Showdown's predecessor GUN was published by Activision for the Xbox 360, Xbox, Gamecube, PC and PS2. Set in the early 1880s of the American Old West, protagonist Colton White is a hunter turned gunslinger when his murdered father instructs him to go to Dodge City. The first title was released in North America and Europe on November in 2005. Here are some new screenshots from Gun Showdown.

You'll find your justice at the end of a gun. Maybe not, but you can try doing just that very same thing with Gun Showdown, the upcoming PSP shooter from Activision. In it, you'll get to to play Colton White, a gunslinger seeking to put things right but shooting down all those men doing wrong. Apparently, there are a lot of them, so that's going to be a lot of shooting down. Here's the third trailer of Gun Showdown, courtesy of Gametrailers. It features new missions not shown in previous trailers. Sit back, relax, and be careful where you point that thing, folks. Download: [Gun Showdown: New Missions Trailer] |

Executive Producer for Gun:Showdown, Chuck Park, talks about the wild gun-slinging adventure that will come to the PSP this Fall. You take on the role of Cotton White, an orphaned man on a journey of self-discovery with the untamed West as backdrop. Aside from the an epic main storyline, written by Hollywood scriptwriter Randall Jahnson - the guy behind the Mask of Zorro and The Doors - there will be additional five story missions that players can look forward to. The PSP's Wi-Fi connection is a great compliment to the game's three Multiplayer modes - Death Match, Golden Cross and Poker. Golden Cross is a take on Capture the Flag where whoever holds the flag becomes the target in the game. In Poker, you play a classic game of Texas Hold 'em. You can play against five other players in all three modes. There are also six quickplay games that will come with the game's release. So far we've learned that Suppress the Outlaws, Bear Hunt, Fire Fight, and Hollister's Dynamite Run will be included. And what is the Wild West without weapons? Additional weapons such as landmines, throwing knives and variations of the pistol will also be showcased. Download: [Gun:Showdown Story and Multiplayer Interview] |
