energy skin

The famous PSP 'brew, FileAssistant, has now been ported to run on Firmware 2.8, thanks to Killer Maniac's efforts. Now, the thing is, he hasn't tested it if Flash writing works, because according to him, he is not willing to risk it. But if you are, then you are most welcome to do so, of course.

As for the installation, you just unzip the two folders into your "ms0:/PSP/GAME” folder". Then, to run, start xLoader and go to the game folder in your XMB. Look for FileAssistant and click X. There are also five skins included here, which you may use if needed.

As a final caveat, Killer Maniac would like to remind everyone that he can not be, in any way, held liable for anything that happens to your PSP because of this application. Anyway, you guys know the drill. Use it at your own risk. So, just be extra careful, alright?

I can't believe you people... you've been on this site how long? Can you really trust an unregistered user to tell you that some software bricked a psp... I wouldn't. And, yes, I realize that this is an unregistered post, but i'm not claiming that some software bricked my psp.

» why did he port this? for XLoader?

im using FileAssistant 1.20 and it works fine on my 2.80 with eLoader 0995 and Xloader...of course...no flash write tho.

 » Try flashing to Flash1

I don't have 2.8 or i'd try it, but its 99.9% safe to copy a small file to Flash1 (NOT Flash0!!!) to see if writing to flash works.

 » dodgy?

isn't this dodgy because when you use Xloader it can now access flash0 or something... I dunno, I don't understand why Fanjita thinks there will be a downgrader for 2.8 soon, so he must know about something...

Ages ago when Eloader was released for 2.8, Fanjita said somewhere in a forum post to "not give up hope for a downgrader"...

Someone should donate 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,
000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 to my paypal so I can get a psp for 1.80 downgrade testing.

 » As expected.................

This version works fine on 2.71 SE. The other versions wouldn't work correctly on 2.71 SE C so I was using Pspfiler instead.

this is different than tifff version?

 » TIFF Difference

Yes, but the only difference is that it has USB mode, better looks and theme and plugin support. You can also play music and view photos through this application.

» Writing to flash1 works without kernal access!

I had tiff version on my 2.80 - much better than this. There should be .pbp version of that fileassistant - without any programmer limits.

 » FileAssistant++

The image itself shows that flash0: and flash1: is "Read Only." Unless the coder changed the code, you wouldn't even be able to edit the flash.

   by 1337PSP (Unregistered) - 2006-12-10
 » wtf?

You're the dumbass for actually using this. What, just because it's new that means to give it a try and hope nothing bad happens? That's like 99% of the people who have 2.8 and when a downgrader comes out they will start the downgrade the second it's released, without any feedback on it, or any news or information about it. First you upgraded to 2.8 for what reason? And then you tried an app that just came out and has a high risk of bricking your PSP but you try it anyway? You're a smart one.

   by FreePlay - 2006-12-10
 » Um, yeah.

FileAssistant already worked. Not just my TIFF port, but the EBOOT version as well... I've used it extensively on my 2.80.

This program cannot brick your psp... It only reads from the flash, there is no writing. I would like to see that 'article' you speak of.

I don't believe that you bricked but if you did, the author clearly says that he is in no way responsible for anything that you do to your PSP using this program
