A happy new year indeed to all you readers! Well, what better way to usher in 2009 with a brand spanking new custom firmware, eh? I hear some of you guys are looking forward to even more PSP Updates for the next twelve months, so let's kick off this year with a b-b-b-baaaaang!This new PSP Custom Firmware 5.02 GEN-A comes from Miriam, over at PSPGen. It's got quite a lot of features on its own, heck, even Bubbletune's very own Game Categories plugin was incorporated! Requirements:
There are more notes and instructions in the readme. It's in English, so there's no excuse not reading it - y'know, you should make that a new year's resolution: go through readme files for anything and everything you download! Since Dark AleX's CFW is required for this, we've also included a link to it below. Let the wine flow, we're thanking our tipsters! Biig Biscuit, Michael D, MozyMan, and Fadil! so, by pandora options does that mean you can make a pandora better strait from the menu?

this is way better than previous dark alex cfw. because it has tons of features. most dark alex updates just include updates so. well why would i want to stay on 5.00m33-4? 5.02 GEN has more cool stuff in.

» said it once
i'll say again
this is purely cosmetic
this is if you want to see 5.02 in system settings instead of 5.01m33-4
m33-4 has it all covered already
this is not needed

you don't know what your talking about.
Being able to make a pandora battery from the recovery menu isn't cometic.
Being able to go back and forth from the offical firmware and the custome one isn't cosmetic.
Being able to go back to your recovery menu from the xmb and back without resetting isn't cosmetic.
This video is in french by you can see for yourself the features at work

look all i'm saying is.
it's not a new firmware.
it's the same as 5.01m33-4 with fluff.
a few extras that for most part, aren't needed.

you don't know what your talking about
i been using PSP exploits to hack PSPs for a very long time
since 2.xx when we relied on games like gta-liberty city stories to put us in hen.
dont say i dont know what i'm talking about,
the new hacking method i thought was fully due to battery until pre-IPL thing came to light
but now i know.
constantly learning.
and who knew, all i had to do was read what was going on.

This CFW is good for alot of people who don't want to have a bunch of plugins and rather have the features in one nice and neat package, which this is.
For the record I'm sticking with DAX myself, I just hope he implements some of the features used here in his next release.

I've been around since you could use a TIFF exploit to use the golden firmware.
Anyone who understood that properly should know GEN CFWs are useless compared to the DA releases.

ok this makes no sence too me? maybe anyone else caught this?:
"(Slim Only, support for the Phat PSP might be added later)"
ok, it wont support fat psp until you read this?:
"This will allow you to use the Slim Colors on your Phat PSP."
WHAT?? so it wont support fat psp, but the slim colors support it? maybe its a screw up on QJ's part? or the dev?
o yea and this just made it REALLY funny:
The 1.50 Kernel Add-on for PSP Phat units is also included below.
lmao, support the 150K add-on, but dont support the fat PSP(the only psp that can use it).......terrible changelog

I think it means this is for the slim only "Option to reboot in to official firmware in the recovery, it will remain like this until the next cold reset."

lol for what? I'll stick with Dark Alex. I use a hard mod pandora battery and DC8 magic memory stick. Everything works fine for me. When Dark Alex puts a new one out it always has worked flawless. I hope he comes out with something for the TA 088's soon!

I am still trying to figure out why you need to hide your mac address?
This adds some cool features, but nothing that I would use every day. Use it once just to make sure I really can, then just play my psp. This is good for the guys who are always messing around with the psp. Not so much for the guys who just turn it on, run some homebrew and play a few umd's or isos

hiding mac address isn't really useful, now that i think about it. but i have noticed when running cxmb, the vsh recovery goes to the M33 recovery instead of GEN. exiting it will crash and leave me to re-put in my battery. don't use vsh recovery if you have cxmb enabled.

The only thing I've seen people hide their mac addy for was when you are creating videos on youtube. I think it might be so people don't spoof your mac addy. Although it would be rare for them to knock you off from spoffing your mac addy. I don't use my psp for online use anyway.. meh... thats what I have pc's for ... my psp is for gaming...

i installed this for a coworker who has a phat psp and i was wondering how are you able to put slim colors in with the intergated plugin

why would you buy a slim + lite psp then expect to join the home brew community? That's like buying a 28 pronged toaster then being surprised you can't plug it in to make toast. You're smart enough to know about home brew and sites like qj but too dumb to research the playability of your 3000? Those units are *****... my sister (who is dumb) has a friend who wanted their psp modded (the friend is dumb too), those idiots brought me a 3000 like it was modifiable the thing looks pathetic and the browser wouldn't connect either. it appears that you share their dumbness. heres's a hint for you: the day you come to quick jump and the entire site has been renamed PSP 3000 cfw 5.XX m33! then you'll get some *****in help dumbass!

» QJ short stop hosting this fake CFW!!!
I'm removing this fake imitation of CFW, I'm flashing back to M33. I flashed this CFW because of its built in XMB recovery menu access. I only hope that DAX would implement some or all on the extra features, in future releases, that were part of the 3.03-3.40 OE firmwares. I miss those firmwares very much and it saddens me remembering the good ol' OE days.
