Having some difficulty with running some of Hold+'s functions on your PSP since it updated to version 2.6? Don't worry - Torch has also caught wind of its issues, and has released build v2.61 as a fix.In case you're a new reader, Hold+ is a homebrew plugin that enables you to save your PSP's battery life by switching off its LCD backlight and actual LCD screen, and underclocking its CPU. All this is possible just by setting's your unit's power switch to Hold. Version 2.61 in particular should address a problem that interfered with the plugin's Analog Up features (quoting the readme): Fixed a bug that was introduced in v2.6 that caused the control input buffer to completely fill up, hence causing the Analog Up features not to work in Hold mode, when the plugin was used for an extended period of time. Those interested in using this plugin will first want to check the readme included with the file bundle for instructions on installation and controls. You may also want to visit Torch's release thread at the QJ.NET PSP Development Forum if you're interested in leaving your feedback. Download: Hold+ v2.61 Visit: QJ.NET PSP Development Forum |

» BUG SPOTTED!!!
There is a bug in which when you un hold the PSP, the PSP restores everything but the CPU which remains at 61/30 mhz. Please fix this. Other than that great plugin and keep up the good work.

I'm not able to reproduce this at all. Only one other person I know of has this problem.
I know for a fact that this happens on 4.01M33-1 and 3.80M33 because those firmwares have a bug in the CPU speed functions, but DAX has fixed the bug in 4.01M33-2, where my plugin works fine.

i dont get it... i have 4.01m33-2 and my psp still remains at 61mhz.... did u originally design this for the slim psp?

» not an issue here
I've got a "fat" launch PSP and have no issues with the clock speed returning to normal.
However with version 2.61 the plugin no longer responded after putting it in normal hold mode (using analog up).

» Other plugins.
For the detection of the Hold switch I am using the Latch function so other plugins *shouldn't* interfere.
But as for the analog stick, the only reason I can think of it not working right for some people is because of some other plugin that you have installed that is eating up the buffer and not passing it down the module chain.
One solution would be to map it to one of the other buttons which can be accessed though Latch (the analog can only be buffered) but that clash with buttons in the video player etc.

I was and still at 4.01M33-2 on my PSP Slim. The bug has seemed to have gone away, but I'm glad to hear from the genius of this app. Thanks

» clarify..
Just to clarify Torch, the plugin was loaded fine and working. I tested the functions found in 2.4 first with no issues but when I held the analog up to put in normal hold (only keys locked) it went into hold fine but after switching off hold I could no longer go into full hold; it would only ever lock the keys.

Move the analog around a bit and then turn on/off hold.
I'm pretty sure its a input buffer problem, but I don't know exactly whats causing these random problems for some people.
I have absolutely no problems on both my PSPs, and I use both extensively for many hours a day.

this is a great example of one of the many benifits of homebrew enabled psps, and of course, developers that are willing to commit their time to them.
Torch, i was wondering, do you think you could create a .prx that allows PROPER shuffling of music? when you use the shuffle command in the psp, it will only shuffle music from inside the 'group'. its hard to explain!
basically i have all my music albums in seperate folders (the psp calls these 'groups'), and it is only possible to shuffle songs inside an individual group. it is not possible for the psp to randomly play songs from all of the groups in the music folder.
is there are simple fix to this? its really annoying that this simple feature isnt possible with the psp.
but anyway, thanks for the update to HOLD

» I know.
I have similar gripes with the music player. Its not possible without extensive hacking of the music player (which I can't do). Right now I have an admittedly ambitious goal of making a custom music player which is meant to replace the the firmwares music_plugin. The problem is no one seems to have any information about the required software interfaces to make a plugin that seamlessly interacts with the XMB in a submenu like the music player, video player etc.

» ambitious indeed
i havent used the GEN custom firmwares, but didnt they allow recovery and reset of the psp via new buttons that were added to the XMB?
perhaps they would have an idea of how to get that replacement music player to integrate into the XMB

» R and L for music playback
It would be great if you could allow a feature for music with hold. Meaning having R and L unlocked to changed a song. I think this would be a great feature.

» That's included already.
After you install this, enable it in the recovery so that the updated hold.prx is registered. Then in XMB or game, depending on which you installed it for, turn on the hold switch. Then while holding up on the analogue, switch off the hold switch. The screen will be black, the CPU will be at 61 and the buttons will be unlocked. To restore the PSP to normal state press the screen button.

» it would suck though
i think HarryButtox means having L and R always unlocked even with hold active.
if thats so, i think it would be really annoying.
i use my psp for playing music through my car stereo, and those are the first 2 buttons that get bumped the easiest all the time, and it sucks when you're halfway through your favourite song!

i fraekin love this program.
i can seriously jam out with my psp for over 12 hours at work, and the battery indicator doesnt deplete.
i might also help that i charge it in my nyko coffin at lunch but still. awesome stuff.
