AlexRichter has released a new version of his Homebrew Locator program for the PC. The program requires an internet connection as well because it connects to our download site for management and download of the files. This program seems to be the perfect fix for those who wish to find the quickest solution to their compatibility needs. The program features 2.0 and GTA compatibility modes and various filters to help you find your game.

 » stop it!

You know, you guys should STOP starting every piece of news with "so-and-so did whatever", like he is some celebrity!

If you say "Michael Jackson chipped a tooth" i understand, but what is the point of sayin "this unknown dude released his bla bla bla" like we had been waiting for that crap!

I dont meant to disrespect anyone who writes something for psp but I dont care who released it, jsut give me info and end your news with By whomever...

I am sick of hearing XXXX released his YYYYYYY... GOOD FOR HIM! I don't even remember his name after I downloaded the damn thing.

 » Short description:

oh and this is totally useless..

it takes forever to get info from server and loads text into it,
and it links to http://files.pspupdates.qj.net/cgi-bin directory which is the OLD download server.. I cant believe pspupdates didnt even check these stuff before publishing it here.

also it does not list 1.5 boots as option, who cares about GTA boot.. you should have known better to STICK to 1.5!

anyway, I will download from page and not use this because it seems like waste of time, because when you click download, it does ont download but links and visits the page

 » well

hey the part where it lists the actual title of the homebrew is all black you cant even see a list!!! this is messed up

"You know, you guys should STOP starting every piece of news with "so-and-so did whatever", like he is some celebrity!"

It has nothing to do with that. It has to do with giving author credit. That's how things work in the homebrew community.

 » Urm?

Firstly my name is AlexRichter.

Also this is an old version (the comment about not linking to downloads) : http://alexrichter.fh-net.com/PSPH.zip Version 1.2 is the latest.. and features direct link to downloads.

Also the comment about .NET using alot of memory, thats because it allocates all the memory it can to make the program run faster... and as that memory is needed it gives it up.

Also i have a 2.6 psp cos it came that way when i brought it. Not everyone has these PSPs because there too stupid to update.

Please QJ.Net Correct your news :D

 » Oh and:

Also the people with the Black left bit bug, that is fixed in 1.2.

Also 1.2 has an installer (sorry i forgot to say this in last post)

   by Jake - 2006-03-24

Thanks for the correction, Alex. We picked this story up off of another site that wasn't exactly forthcoming on what your homesite was. ;)

Download should be updated to 1.2

by Anonymous Coward (Unregistered) - 2006-03-24

Jake, I know which site you are talking about, and I run that site, please do realize we were not informed of a homepage.

Yet, one more reason to see that pspupdates is garbage and relies on other news sites to provide news.

by Anonymous Coward (Unregistered) - 2006-03-24

Also, I like the fact you use a screenshot on the downloads page stolen from our site (notice the site's name in the bottom right). Pretty unprofessional, considering we get no credit for providing the news.

"Also, I like the fact you use a screenshot on the downloads page stolen from our site (notice the site's name in the bottom right). Pretty unprofessional, considering we get no credit for providing the news."

isn't your site's name on the picture not enough to give credit for it ?

by Anonymous Coward (Unregistered) - 2006-03-24

Not when it happens all the time. =)

TBH, I really don't care about credit. Just shows immaturity and corporate pressure.

 » ...

Look, fine you think PSPupdates is garbage? Then why are you hear? Do you just like garbage then? If you don't like the site, go somewere else, you are not needed....(and if your complaining, your not even wanted here.)

   by Jake - 2006-03-24

Lets make this simple:

The pic: Has the source name on it. Credit given.

The program source: The site in question was properly sourced originally. Then we received the link to a newer version NOT covered at the site in question. Therefore, the source is no longer needed since it is in our comments and not on that site. ;)

"Yet, one more reason to see that pspupdates is garbage and relies on other news sites to provide news."

Please don't make me show you a list of dozens of PSP sites that make up THEIR news from what we post. You can tell because the news falls in the exact same order as it is seen here.

Not every single piece of PSP news can be released to us directly.

Oh, ok Jake. Whatever.

I never said PSPupdates.qj.net is a bad site. We are on good terms. But when you start bashing our site by saying things like:

"Thanks for the correction, Alex. We picked this story up off of another site that wasn't exactly forthcoming on what your homesite was. ;)"

Even though it doesn't state the site's URL, it still is quite insulting, when I didn't realize that was his homepage address. Not really my problem.

As far as you QJ releasing the news 'first', a lot of the news comes from press releases and other larger sites, so I wouldn't be so sure as to indirectly call yourself THE source for news.

me^

   by Jake - 2006-03-24

No worries. Its just that me and a blogger spent 15 minutes trying to come up with where it came from. Even if you had said "we got this emailed in" it would've saved us that time. It just seemed like a magical appearance of a program. ;)

"so I wouldn't be so sure as to indirectly call yourself THE source for news."

I didn't, as far as I know. That's your interpretation. My intent was to say that some sites use us to dig up the news for them, but we don't go running around crying foul about it because there is no foul. :)

But I will say that there are only a handful of sites that are as frequently updated as this one and covers the amount of news we do.

» PSP Updates has more news. THANKS!!!

It seems like PSP Updates has more news than most sites I visit to check out homebrew and the latest news. I enjoy news about the system and general videogame info. Alot of the sites I go to only have homebrew and it is the same stuff PSP updates has but they tell very little news. PSP Updates gives news most often throughout the day while other sites may not update but once a day. Some news and homebrew I may not be interested in but I am glad it is reported anyway because if it is not helpful to me it is for others. Thanks QJ staff for all your work getting the info that I and as well as others enjoy.

 » x64 incompatibility

FYI: This doesn't run in windows x64, the .Net version is incompatible and wont even run the setup:

Prerequisite check for system component .NET Framework 2.0 failed with the following error message:
"This version of the .NET Framework 2.0 is not supported on a 64-bit operating system. Contact your application vendor."

 » x64 Compatibility - OK NOW!

Ah, didn't realise it would try and install .net fw 2.0 if not installed!
I manually installed the x64 version and it works fine now!

 » Great Program!

I'll start off by saying that this is a beautiful looking application... something I would have like to build if I had more free time. I realize that you're running a 2.6 psp, however, if you could include 1.5 downloads into this program we would all be very appreciative. Compared to what you've done thus far... completing the search functionality for homebrew designed for 1.5's... and maybe even including an automatic installer (although that would definitly be a far off second todo) would make this probably one of the most useful applications released on QJ to date.

Thanks again for the great program. Keep up the good work.
