Rythm Engine: Rythm Box Mod - Image 1 Rythm Engine: Rythm Box Mod - Image 2

Homebrew developer Brick has just released the first fully playable version of Rythm Engine: Rythm Box Mod, a DDR clone that has somehow mutated into a very enjoyable rhythm shooter.

So, how does this rhythm-shooter hybrid work exactly? First, you have to remember to keep the game's rhythm bar high by successfully hitting the wall-beats along with the background music for better score multipliers. If it gets too low, you start losing HP.

Second, you have to kill all of the enemies that are just dying to get you. There are boss-type enemies too, but with the help of power-ups you just might have a chance at survival.

The game currently has four difficulty settings: easy, medium, hard, and Godlike. Controls and installation instructions are in the readme and FAQ files included in the archive below. There's also a short tutorial for the bundled Level Editor as well as how to create custom themes.
