File Downloader screenshot - Image 1PSP homebrew developer Poison_xtreamlua dropped by the QJ.Net forums earlier to release the Proof-of-Concept stage of an application in development, named File downloader MSA.

This application will allow users to download files from a specific url address into a defined location on their PSP's memory stick.

The usage process is broken down into three stages:

  1. Entering the correct URL: Either punch in the url address manually on the app's keyboard, or write the url in the  "url.ini" file located in the file bundle.
  2. Designating the output folder on your PSP.
  3. Download the file.
As said earlier, this is a proof-of-concept build currently under development - we advise users to be very careful when handling this homebrew. Poison_xtreamlua states that these are the commonly noted bugs for the moment:
  • You have to enter a correct (valid) url, else your psp will just be freezed.
  • Be caution to enter an output file , else your psp will just be freezed.
  • If the psp is inactive for 5 min, she will shutdown (I'm so sorry but I didn't succeed to fix it, I just know it because of the thread...).
  • If you load an url contain inside url.ini and after you decide to write the url your self it will bug the keyboard..
  • There are some bugs about gfx (not very important)
Given that the bundle lacks a file readme, we advise the readers to visit Poison_xtreamlua's release thread here at QJ's PSP Development forums for further information.

Like Downloading Homebrew And Stuff Cuz The PSP Browser Doesnt Let U Download That

   Re: ... (Unregistered) - 2007-08-30

You can already download Homebrew...Putting it in the directory of choice is the Important thing here...although you could just use fileassistant to move it to another location...or use Links2 and do it while viewing what the download is

What I wanna see is a copy paste plugin (.prx)somone make that +/

You can use irshell to move files you've downloaded so this is pointless

does this man really mean what is a POC ?
I just call that a WIP of what anyone with small C or maybe even LUA knowledge could code in no more than 1 hour !

» I'm not sure I understand what you are saying...fully, but...

POC means Proof-Of-Concept. Anyway, what's the point of this app? I am a bit confused...

Lets see you put your code where your mouth is.
I want to see you Release an app half as useful as this in 45 minutes then, I dont see gg under ANY releases. People like you are why good coders quit.

The wlan example script that comes with lua can be easily modified to do this.

Another example of the assload of crappy homebrew that crowds the psp scene. Very dissapointed this came from a xtremelua member.

 » It's better than nothing.

Plus, remember, this IS just a proof of concept.

And it's made in C, not lua.

 » well...

IWN released a wlan.rar that relies on libcurl which shows you how to download stuff, so really hes changing the download string from a keyboard

Nice idea, but without a rar or zip inpacker its pretty useless to download homebrew.

if it would have a zip and rar unpacker then you can download and use homebrew anywhere without the use of a pc (when your away or on vacation)

but it would be nice if it had a normal internet browser in it too, cause browsing qj with the psp browser, then write down the download url, then go to this application is pretty annoying,

but then again when you,re away from house and a pc, then yes i would go thruw that.

Nice App, like to see improvements :)

Well I was contemplating continuing to try to make this happen. Thanks It would have taken me a long time. This was the original concept that drove Ms MasteR. I'm really happy to see it finally materialize. Once again reminding me why your one of my fav devs.
