Hot Brain now on shelves in Europe - Image 1

Those who have been waiting for Hot Brain to be released in Europe, wait no longer. Midway Games has announced that this PSP exclusive is already out and available for 19.99 GBP or 29.95 Euros (about US$ 40). It has been said that this title will make your brain hot, wanna know why and how?

Well, it gives players different quizzes on five categories that test logic, memory, math, language and concentration. It's really the same thing as most training-simulation games, which isn't necessarily a bad thing if you enjoy that genre.

For the older generation, one good thing about Hot Brain is the fact that comedy legend Fred Willard provided his voice talent for the character of Professor Ed Warmer, the head of the Hot Brain Institute. So go check out the game and see if it's something you'd want to add to your collection.

After all, who wouldn't want to have a hot brain?

Midway releases Hot Brain - Image 1

Midway Games would like to inform all of you that the brain training video game title Hot Brain has already been released and is available now in stores across North America. The game retails for US$ 29.99. Europe will be getting the game around 10 days from now.

Basically, Hot Brain is a puzzle game in its core aimed to develop five different skills namely logic, memory, math, language, and concentration. Just like most titles, you can enjoy Hot Brain alone and develop your mental skills in the confines of your room. But if you're the sociable kind of person, it also has several multiplayer modes that you can enjoy with your friends.

Midway's Steve Allison had this to say: "With comedic legend Fred Willard as your guide, Hot Brain not only teases the mind but tickles the funny bone. Hot Brain is the perfect game for summer travel plans or just sitting around the house. "

"It was built exclusively for Sony's PSP system and will be a great addition to any gamer's library, no matter their skill level," Allison added.

Games that attempt to develop one's mind have been making a lot of heads turn lately. So it isn't surprising that Midway Games is trying to tap into the genre's popularity with their own offering, Hot Brain.

Like most other games in the series, players must solve a series of puzzles and challenges to help develop logic, math, memory, language, and concentration skills. This PSP exclusive game has several single player modes to keep one interested. If you prefer to develop your mind in a more social environment, the game also offers two multiplayer modes. Getting into the game shouldn't be too difficult either since a tutorial mode is available for beginners.

Hot Brain is expected to be released this June 18 in the US and June 28 in Europe. While waiting, why don't you check out the screenshots of the game and see if it's for you.

A few days ago, Midway's Jerry Huber gave us the 411 on Hot Brain's features. We know now that the game would have five different challenge categories: Math, Logic, Memory, Concentration, and Language. Now, we have some screens of the game that would show off the Math and Logic portions. Check them out:

If those screens didn't help you decide if you'll buy the game, then we suggest you to take a good, hard look at some of Hot Brain's gameplay videos that we covered a few weeks back. This PSP game from Midway is set to come out on June 18 for the U.S., while Europeans could begin measuring their brains' temperatures on June 28.

With Hot Brain, Midway is looking to take a bite out of the whole brain training pie and bring a slice of it to Sony's PSP handheld system. Shacknews recently had a chance to talk to Hot Brain producer Jerry Huber to find out more about the game.

Hot Brain - Image 1

Hot Brain has five different challenge categories: Math, Logic, Memory, Concentration and Language. Each category also has three different puzzle types. All players start off in easy mode and unlock the medium and difficult level settings once they reach a certain score.

Brain temperature is used to gauge how well the player is doing. "The hotter your brain temperature… the better." Players can see how hot their brain is at the end of each puzzle, with scores ranging from Icy to On Fire.

Players can also check out a 3D model of the brain that's "color coded to show how well the player did on the puzzle. The player can also display a graph that shows how he's done over time."

According to Huber, the game has two multiplayer modes: "Brain Race is a competitive event for 2 to 4 players. The goal is to be the first player that scores a 'Red Hot'. Think Tank is a cooperative event where 2 to 4 players work together."

Wanna find out how just hot your brain is? Look for Hot Brain in retail stores once it hits on June 18. For the full interview, click on the read link below.

Our coverage of Midway Games' mental exercise fest for the PlayStation Portable (PSP), Hot Brain, has been decent so far. From its announcement back in January early this year, some screenshots, and even a video interview with the voice of Professor Fred Warmer, your in game mentor, have been posted here. What we don't have, are gameplay videos. Well, we want to rectify that.

Below are a whole lot of gameplay videos for Hot Brain for the PSP.

Get the rest of the videos after the jump.

Brain training isn't only for DS owners, y'know. Hot Brain: Fire Up Your Mind, which is exclusive to the Sony PSP handheld videogame system, is a game that engages your mind through a series of puzzles and challenges designed to raise the activity and temperature of your brain.

It has quite a variety of fun yet challenging mental activities that helps build you mind in such as logic, memory, math, language and concentration. Hot Brain has four main game modes. You can test your Hot Brain-powered mind skills through the game's single-player Practice and Test modes. Better yet, you can challenge up to three people via ad-hoc connection in Hot Brain's two multiplayer modes: Brain Race and Think Tank.

As the brain training titles for the DS pile up, the PSP contender, Hot Brain from Midway Games is shaping up to give our minds a bit of a workout. Now meet your future mentor and guide, Professor Fred Warmer.

The guide is voiced by Fred Willard (Anchorman and American Wedding) and judging from the dialogue the character seems a lot more interesting. According to him, "Losing your memory does have a bright side... You keep meeting new people." In the trailer, the Hot Brain categories are shown: logic, memory, math, language, and concentration. Fred Willard also gives some tips for gameplay plus the different gameplay modes.

Hot Brain for the PSP is slated for a summer release. In the meantime, enjoy the trailer and prepare to get your brains smokin' hot.

Hot Brain article - Image 1 Given just how popular brain games were getting for the DS, we were beginning to wonder if it was giving the PSP devs something to think about (no pun intended). With that said, Midway lets us in on more information for their upcoming Hot Brain title for the PSP which, in the words of a disembodied floating head, "Will help activate your prefrontal cortex!" this summer 2007.

Entertaining host character
A highly entertaining host character, voiced by Fred Willard (Best in Show, Anchorman) will guide, tutor, and encourage the player throughout the game.

Five different categories
Hot Brain features five challenging categories with hundreds of timed challenges in each that test your brain powers in logic, memory, math, language, and concentration.

Easy-to-use controls
The controls are simple and intuitive, and are geared toward fast-reaction gameplay. Each potential answer to a given Challenge is mapped to a controller button, allowing even a novice PSP user to start playing immediately.

Multiple game modes
Fire up your mind with four main game modes including two multiplayer modes (Brain Race and Think Tank) and two single player modes (Test Mode and Practice).
  1. Practice mode. Practice mode is the core of the game. The player is encouraged to practice on a regular basis, which (according to theory) will stimulate the mind and help raise the test scores.
  2. Test Mode. The test mode quizzes the player in each of the five categories. The player is given a score for each category and an overall performance score. Players try to get their brain to be "On Fire," the highest score they can achieve.
  3. Brain Race. Brain Race is a competitive event in which 2-4 players are presented with a series of timed Challenges. The goal is to be the first player to raise their brain temperature.
  4. Think Tank. Think Tank is a cooperative multiplayer event in which 2-4 players work together to solve Challenges and raise the temperature of the 3D brain onscreen until it reaches critical mass.

Hot Brain - Image 1

By the looks of it, Midway Games is targetting handheld consoles right now. It was only yesterday when the developer announced Touchmaster for DS, a collection of mini games based on coin-operated arcade machines. The company announced today another handheld title - this time for PSP - that is reminiscent of Brain Age.

Hot Brain is currently being handled by Midway's San Diego studio and is focused on five different categories namely logic, memory, math, language, and concentration. In a nut shell, the objective of the game is to get the highest "brain temperature", but it remains to be seen how all these will play together. But Midway Games Chief Marketing Officer Steve Allison somehow gave a preview.

With Hot Brain for PSP, we're able to tap into our experience with the casual market to create games that work perfectly with the unique controls and features of the portable system. The title will be able to provide quick three-minute gameplay experiences or extended play-session with puzzles, card games, brain teasers, trivia and more.

As for now, there's only little information about Hot Brain. Gameplay, accordingly, is based on simple icon selections and is supported by a number of single and multiplayer game modes for up to four players total via ad hoc. The different game modes include Practice Mode, Test Mode (the official single-player challenge), Brain Race (timed competitive multiplayer), and Think Tank (cooperative multiplayer).

Hot Brain is expected to hit retail stores this summer.
