Ó

For those of you who always wanted to download videos to your desktop for your PSP, I came across a quick easy way to do this using FireFox v1.5. Hopefully some of you out there will find this useful and be able to flood your mem stick with tons of new media!

1. Get Firefox 1.5 (if you don't already have it).
http://www.mozilla.com/

2. Install Greasemonkey.
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/extensions/greasemonkey/greasemonkey-0.6.4-fx.xpi

3. Restart Firefox 1.5

4. Install this script using Greasemonkey. (Right-click on the link below and select "Install User Script…")
http://www.microsano.com/proyectos/getvideo/googlevid-download.user.js

5. Done!

Now simply go to the video of your choice at http://video.google.com and you will see the download button. Just choose PSP from the format menu, and click download! Enjoy.

 » I don't get it

You can already download any movie from google video preformatted for the psp... even without this mod...? Unless all it does is rename the vid "MAQ*****.mp4"?

 » way easier way

 » why grease monkey?

You don't need greasemonkey, who doesn't have gmail account?
Once you go to video, you can download any video by choosing from the dropdown menu.

The problem is THEY WON'T WORK WITH 1.5 !!
You need AVC support in your PSP otherwise you should convert them to PMP which does pretty good job.

Ignore Stage 4, by that point you're ready to go.

If you don't know how to do this, you don't deserve a PSP.

You need 1.50 the videos are AVC

 » Compatibility Issues

This is because its the AVC coding. You can boot this on firmware 1.5 using MPH's firmware launcher and temporarily launching 2.0. See tutorials in the forums for help

you can do this with IE anyways

And next week, we look at the more complicated process of how to TIE YOUR SHOELACES SO YOU DON'T TRIP OVER ALL THE TIME.

Some people just like doing things the hard way I guess.

i'm sober and laughing at you all, crono, typo's? you need 2.0+ not 1.5 you dink. yes, all you need is a g-mail account, like me and everyone else that isn't you. but since you can convert videos yourself with the hundreds of conversion apps, does it really matter if there psp ready, or are you all just lazy.

 » Is this necessary?

I don't understand why you need Firefox or why you need the Greasemonkey extension or the script to do this. You can do all of this using Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc. If you have a compatible browser (mostly every new browser out there) then the download link and the download option for PSP will ALWAYS be there. No need for Firefox, Greasemonkey or the script. Unless of course, the script does something special, such as renaming the file because you need to do that manually using the method provided by Google Video. By the way, I like the concept of using the name "Anonymous Coward" for anonymous posters.

If you want to turn out a light in your house - instead of hitting the switch, take a walk down to the powerstation. Find a big stick (preferably metal) on the way. Climb inside the powerstation and get close to the big things that make a 'bzzzzzz' noise. Ram the stick in as hard as you can.

what does greasemonkey do anyways?

by Anonymous Coward (Unregistered) - 2006-03-18
 » It is necessary

That dropdown box is ONLY there if you have a GMAIL account and are signed in on it.

If you do not then the download link will NOT be there and you need this script. That is why it works for you without this script. You probably have gmail.

Umm.....who didn't already know this?
And you don't need to install Firefox specificaly or greasemonkey. (Thought I do use Firefox my self)

The only thing you need to do is select PSP from the drop down box on GoogleVideo, and then rename the file you download to M4V*****.mp4 (replace the astrisks with any number from 0-9, it doesn't matter what the number is, or what combination, just so long as you don't name any two files the exact same 5 numbers)

I've been doing this for months....I don't see the advantage to doing it this other way.

As for the thing I keep hearing about an incompatability with firmware 1.5, I really can't be sure about that. I run 2.00. :)

 » Err,

"That dropdown box is ONLY there if you have a GMAIL account and are signed in on it."

Negatory.

"You probably have gmail."

Failure again.

"If you do not then the download link will NOT be there and you need this script"

It is there. Because I use Internet Explorer. There's more than one way to skin a cat, and I use a cat-skinner not a spoon.
In other words: use IE, ****slapper. It works fine and you don't need to do anything.
Also, be aware that not all videos on Google Video are available for download in PSP format.

Facking noobs.

You dont need a gmail account for either.

I was under the impression greasemonkey was able to leech streaming or embedded videos on the fly.

 » ****ing idiots

This _HAS_ to be the worst community ever.

Yes, you can download videos without a gmail account since like January, but that does not mean you need to flame someone to death for posting this article.

I think some people here need to get lives. And i mean REAL lives, not ones where they try to show their superiority over others by using insults that 4 year olds do.
