As the readers may recall, Sony released a new cradle accessory for the PSP Slim just a few days ago for the territories in Japan. Now, if you're among the guys planning to import one for your own use, you'll probably want to see how it looks, which brings us to our current topic.
We've managed to pick up several shots of the Slim cradle, along with some of the other accessories built to go with it. Of special note is the cradle's remote control, which allows you to access the PSP's XMB wirelessly. That, coupled with the AV Out cable, will turn your handheld into a veritable multimedia system. Another subtle feature we note is that the cradle allows you to open the PSP's UMD port. Those who bought their films in this proprietary format should find this function handy. As a recap, the Cradle costs 4,800 Yen (US$ 46). There's also a D-Terminal cable combo pack out, which will cost 6,500 Yen (US$ 63). Those interested in viewing more pictures of this accessory can find them over at the Rakuten site, via the source link below. |

Thing looks stupid. Just hold your PSP. I guess they need to make money on stupid stuff like this with all the modding.

Don't hate just because you don't watch UMD movies on your TV. Hate leads to anger, anger leads to posting, posting leads to flame wars, flame wars ruin teh intarwebs.

A lot of people love having docking stations like this for thier iPods or Zunes or whatever youngsters are using these days... And Sony is seeing that so they're giving people what they want. Why not include a remote? I see iPod docks with them all the time. If someone is making dinner and they want to change the song from another room, they can use the remote and just point to the PSP. If they don't have a kitchen that touches thier living room, then this isn't for them...

This would be super sick if it were compatible with PS3 controllers.

» remotes run on IR hmm
this makes me wonder if there will be some IR input homebrew for this cradle (like a way to access an IR keyboard on the slim). i see possibilities. also maybe open up the possibility of a wireless ps3 controller to be used once the signals sent by the cradles remote are figured out (if it can control the xmb it should be able to control a game as well)
