Increased productivity: More PSPs sold in UK after price cut

"Increased productivity!" sounds like a battle cry many salarymen can live with. Thankfully, it's also the battle cry of Sony's UK execs, who are seeing more PSPs sold in the UK as a result of their recent price cut.

Since taking £ 20 off, the PSP's price, there's been a resurgence in PSP buying, with a 60% increase in sales during the opening weekend. Accordingly, Sony's expecting the good fortune to keep on coming with the increase of PlayStation Portable units sold, especially with the arrival of new video games into the European market.

Said Andrew Howsen, Sony's sales director, of the recent turnaround, "The price realignment was about passing on manufacturing cost savings to customers. This new price point opens up a new wave of consumers to the PSP experience." As long as the good games keep on coming, let the good times roll.

Y do you plonkers give a damn about being first to post! Does it really matter! Y not talk about the subject in hand!

Anyway, did Sony really not expect this or summat? Of course the price cut is going to increase sales. That's all that was really needed! It costs too much to go and buy, and the cut in price was just what people wanted!

Price cuts and increased sales being celebrated everywhere, and where I live we still pay $400 USD for a PSP and $80 USD for each PSP game, because Sony didn't bother to include the 10th biggest economy in the world in its releases, so we have to import everything.

(Worth noting: $1600 USD for a PS3. Yes: one thousand, six hundred. Yet people buy them. Wouldn't they sell thousands more at a reasonable price after an official release?)

EXACTLY!!! Man ALL the hate the PSP got and the PS3 now gets is ALL about PRICE!!! If Sony lowered the price (as they just did with the PSP and got great results) people will buy their product!

no they wouldnt well not for the ps3 at least....awful machine- size of a printer and is as loud as one....functionality is to boot and the graphics are just about on par with the wii...Xbox so far is above all...odd and i dont even like Xbox!......still tho gotta hand it to microsoft, they know what to giv their customers

thats your opinion, you can't actually tell if they would sell more. 3million people have already bought a ps3 without a price cut. and the ps3 is a hell of a lot quieter than the xbox, you can bareley hear it. and i own one.
