Imagine, if you will, a handheld console that has a single, wide touchscreen and plays some pretty graphically impressive handheld games. If you guessed we were talking about a DS, you'd be wrong: we're actually talking about the latest innovation from modder jube808: a touchscreen-enabled PSP!

Jube808 essentially wants to add features to the PSP that he feels should have been on the handheld in the first place, such as the touchscreen function mentioned above, as well as increased battery life and a redesigned control pad.

The project is still under development, but he has released some videos showing the touchscreen in action. Feel free to check out the two videos below and visit the source link for more info and updates.

 » actually

pspfanboy.com had this info over the weekend.

   Re: mistr305 - 2008-08-11

There's always gotta be one detective dip***** on the case of "late news." I didn't know QJ gave stuff away everytime someone said, "This is old."

 » ..

wow, TheLastGuitarHero, ur so 1337 cuz u can call people detectives for knowing when newz iz old. Imma build a shrine and warship youz.

   Re: TheLastGuitarHero - 2008-08-11
 » ...

If I'm "1337" for just calling people detectives, you must be the master of all trades for being the guy to notice this is old news, and then commenting because... you know... it matters. ; )

   Re: UltimaArmorX - 2008-08-11
 » It matters not.

Especially if QJ gets the news disregarding how long. It would be inconvenient for me because of how I remember the websites I rarely visit.
Though it looks a bit cluttered it is way better than a google.com default or a lame blank page and an overuse of bookmarks. See: http://img181.imageshack.us/img181/5416/57406801cl4.png
Those images in that image there are links. Thanks QJ for the tip. Looks pretty cool.

 » um

I come here to get updates on news items across the gaming spectrum. If this was posted a week ago somewhere else, it doesn't matter to me... To me it's news.

If this site updates so slowly, why don't you just go somewhere else?

   Re: Foolmonkey - 2008-08-11
 » well

first off, the whole point is showing the screen. 2nd, there has a been a psp touch screen out for years now, a simple google search will show you. so i'm guessing he bought the touch screen and just wrote an app for it. it's probably not even hard (for experienced coders).

 » Actually

this was announced ages ago, though this is the first video of a working model I've seen

 » fake!!!

that is so fake. that is not a psp but another wide screen touch screen device. i am nt saying that its the ds. y does he only shows typing.....i mean,y doesnt he show any gameplay or atleast the xmb? tht all proves it tht its probably a touch screen device such as a phone or a pda. however, i am nt saying tht its definitely nt a psp. all i am saying is tht there isnt enough proof to make me believe that tht is real. and too add to tht, the circuit and the electronics of the current psp does nt support touch screen and cannot be modded to add touch screen facilities. going back to mods like 2nd analog stick, tht is actually a trigger which activates the buttons (xo/[]) wen the analog is moved to tht particular direction. eg, wen analog is moved down x is activated. wen moved up, / is activated. however, i am a computer engineer and i dont see how touch screen can be enabled any how on the current generations of the psp.

   Re: ra1n - 2008-08-12
 » because

there are psp touch screens out there although it was never been programed to work with a psp.
he didn't show the xmb or games thing because in order to do would mean reprogramming the whole dam thing. why would a person go through the trouble of saying this is real AND release some of the codes
   by PSPMAN90 - 2008-08-13
 » Thats it?

I mean he just show a homebrew of a Key board?
Way to go!
Seriously!
We are still withing for more to come!

I'm buying a damd Iphone...

Thanks!
